Default Starting to have second thoughts on my purchase.............

Not about the car in general, but about the transmission I selected. I originally decided on an auto because of pure convenience, and I also felt a little pressured from the Scion salesman to get th Auto, so I got it.

But now, after driving to 100+ miles yesterday in city traffic with my manual 200sx, I've realized that getting the auto, for me, is a waste of time. I've gotten to the point where I don't even have to think about switching gears - the transmission is of no hindrance to me at all.

Now, I've already put my deposit down for the vehicle. Will the dealership let me change to a manual transmission vehicle easily? The configuration I originally wanted was convenient for them because their first allotment had a vehicle with the exact same specs coming in. Now I guess they'd have to order one with a manual transmission. Do you think this would cause any problems?

Thanks!
Ryan

It might, but all you can do is ask, they may be able to trade at the port before they are shipped.

My hunch is that, at the rate all xB models are selling, they'd have no problem selling the auto to someone else and instead getting a manual for you.

We just got our 5spd xB last night, and after driving it 150 miles today, I'd say it has a very nice, light clutch, a decent shifter, nice ratios, and doesn't "buck around" or "hobbyhorse" in stop-n-go like some cars do.

My advice...... ASK

Good luck!

you haven't purchased the car yet, so you can still get whatever you want. the manual transmission will have a little more pep to it.

I was told to order and if I don't want to buy don't buy. if you put a deposit, you still have time to change it. If it wasn't for my type of work, I would go for the stick, much fun and plus you can do more(speed that is)

You can change it if you want. You might have to wait until there next shipment but in the end it is your choice.

The speed is only a minimal thing for me. I realized that you just have so much more control over your vehicle, and it keeps your mind focused while driving. Besides, I can tell how fast I'm going by the position of my hand and the sound of my engine, no need to take my eyes off the road.

I I figure I'll save 800 bucks, and in place of that I'll add the spoiler, door sill extensions, and cruise control (it's an option from my port).

It's true about being more "focused" when driving a manual tranny. My XA automatic, is the first I've owned, and I am already noticing that I have become more of "lazy" driver. I kinda miss being more in control of the car. Your'e right, it's not a speed issue per se, and you do save some money for more accessories. But, their are benefits to having an automatic, especially if you drive in stop and go traffic a lot, which is why I chose an auto.

I cant blame you on wanting a standard trans. I just returned from L.A. and it was nice to have that feel of not " coasting "on the downhill and doing a ton of brake tapping.....just let off the gas and it slows itself down. Also to tell ya the truth I didnt miss cruise control.

Waiting for the call back from the other Scion dealers to see if they want to trade..........the wait is agonizing!!!!!!

Well, if they can't get one in Thundercloud, they'll definitly be able to get one in blue or camo green Decisions decisions

if you haven't signed the final paperwork and taken delivery of your ride, you can still get it changed. if the salesperson refuses, you can always ask for your deposit back.

Well, they are trading it. Now it's just that we have to hunt through the inventories at port to see if they can find a vehicle with the right combination that hasn't already been spoken for. We're waiting for them to call us up to let us know if they'll do the trade. If not, i can always go with a nother color since once dealership already offered a blue and camo xB for trade. I'll have to wait and see

Kick ___ - I got a phone call that they found one!

And another thing - they were telling me March 1st for delivery. Turns out that the Scion I had ordered was slated for delivery ot the dealer in 4 days!!!! :D Now, switching th car will add a few days onto my wait time, but I'm so psyched that it's gonna be so quick
