Default Stolen: AEM Filter and Upper Tube from shipment box

I won an AEM intake system w/ bypass valve on eBay last week. Showed up at my door step today, courtesy of UPS, with the tape sliced at just one end of the box. Took pictures of the box before I opened it to find the filter and upper intake tube missing! Instructions, hardware, and the long pipe were still in the box. I only found two empty plastic bags and cardboard support pieces (presumably from the missing pieces) in the box.

This package sat at the UPS faciility in San Pablo for a day and half before delivery. Not saying any UPS employees were responsible for the theft, but who in their right mind would break into a box sitting behind a pillar on my front porch, just slice the tape on the end, and pull out only the filter and the upper intake tube? You would think if this happened on my doorstep that the thief or thieves would just take the whole box, right?

Of course, the eBay seller did not offer insurance on this item. I'm giving him a chance to offer some assistance. Otherwise, I'll have to file complaints with UPS, Paypal, and notify my credit card company to void the transaction.

Anyone else here run into these kind of problems? I'm bummed.

Man, sorry to hear that. I have been lucky enough to have only good experiences with ebay. I would definitely file some claims. Good you paid with credit card too, would have been screwed if you paid with a money order or something.

Good news! The ebay vendor that sold me the intake will file the claim with UPS. They are ordering the replacment parts and will ship them to me ASAP.

Nice to deal with sellers who have integrity and good customer service!

My shop had something similar to us happen. We shipped out a quaife limited slip differential to someone on the east caost, $1k product. We didnt place insurance on it nor did the buyer want it. Instead of shipping it in another box we shipped it in the quaife box, kinda dumb on our part. So what happens is that we filed a claim w/ ups because we got jacked for a $1k product. We tracked it & never lefted the ups wherehouse in the city the customer lived in. WTF is up w/ that, any ways anything we ship out we ask customers for insurance, if they dont want it, then it aint out fault if ups jacks or looses the shipment. But it just aggrevates me when people pull crap like this. Sorry just had to vent.

JSYK, every UPS package is automatically insured for $100. I know that doesn't cover a CAI, but the package WAS insured.

In the past (apartment living) I've had several packages completely disappear from my doorstep. That's totally a felony, but people rarely get caught.

Hope it works out for you bro!
