Default storage space under mat

There are no Scion dealers around here but I plan on going to one soon, A few reviews mention a storage space below the rear cargo area. What can fit in there and does anyone have pictures they can post?

hmm~ you can't really fit much in there since the emergency jack/tools and the spare tire is there.

One scioner has custom made a sub to fin in the spare tire. Very nicely done + it was uber stealthy :D

You can fit in a flat top battery there to relocate some of the wieght (that is if you can find one...)

A bean & cheese burrito would fit nicely!
But the glove box would be a more logical choice for snack storage! j/k!

Okay, I just cleaned Karu and took some pictures of the rear interior storage space.
Also, I found the pocket reference guide and scanned the diagram so you can get a better idea of the description you read about.
I can't figure out how to insert pics in the posts so just click onto my "www" button (it'll take you to my webpage)
Special thanks to Reeser's brand bean burrito for modeling!

i think he's talking about number three in the top portion of this pic

it can probably hold a few "cold drinks" and some ice....I've heard that's the purpose of the xB's compartment....

Japanese model has the more useful under rear mat storage - probably using a smaller spare and/or not having one there to allow the flip up storage area.

Japanese model also has slide open under front seat storage bin as well.

yeah, the spare tire is on the one side, and for me the other side came empty...

so, this past winter I filled it up about 1/3 of the way with packaging peanuts and put some stuff I wouldn't want rolling around the back inside it....like beer. It can hold a couple 40s. Plus, it kept it hidden (added bonus)

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of extra room.. good for things like ice scrapers, extra tools, a blanket (in case of being stranded or better yet - unplanned romance at the beach or park LOL)

Can't fit a lot but you can fit a few useful things. I fit a 12 inch sub but removed that tray and relocated the jack to under the passenger seat. Before doing the box I put the manual in there because the glovebox was full of stuff (my wife tends to keep every receipt) A couple of tools fit nice in the tray and yes you can put your weeeed in it, and a 1 foot 'water pipe'

i put practical stuff... like tools and rags and a window squeegee, also bunjee cords and a first aid kit and an umbrella, and other "emergency" type stuff. the only thing that didn't fit was my huge socket wrench set...but oh well that's behind my driver's seat...my passengers can deal with it. :p

I took everything out and put in my stereo system. There is a lot of room under there when everything is out. Can't see it really well...i'll try to take a better picture of it.

I'll be re making the box and adding more things back there soon.

Anyone had any success in relocating the spare to one side and putting a sub/amp on the other side?
