Default Subtle but worth it?

So I've started making mods to my xB... The first non-superficial ones I've done (because I'm a neophyte mechanic) were to add a DC Sports strut bar and the One Ton Garage rear wheel shims. Both are real "subtle" mods even by my own admission. But I'm getting lots of static from my family about spending time/money on things that aren't making a difference at all.

But I swear I can notice the difference however subtle it might be. Furthermore, the difference pleases me even if no one else can tell the differences.

Anyone else running into this sort of "harrassment" from their loved ones?

Nope, because all of the mods I do ARE functional.

So far my wife has been supportive of my mods, but I have done a combination of subtle and obvious mods. I did the OTG shims, but I also have added lots of LED's to interior (rear hatch, A/C vents, dimmer **** area, dome light), a stereo system and quite a few other "non-important" mods. I found that if I actually explain to her what each of the mods do or why I'm doing them, she is more supportive and has pretty much given me free reign (until the money runs out) to mess with things on the car.

not at all. If anything, all my friends and family are supportive. Every little bit counts IMO

Do you think it is worth it? Then that is all that matters. My wife no more understands my need for JDM power folding mirrors than I do of her need for some of the things she is passionate about. But we celebrate and respect each others individuality and encourage each other to do the things we enjoy in life. Now my first wife, that's a whole different story...

i don't get anything, nobody notices what i did. they see me working on my car and such, but when i'm done they don't notice it until i point it out. let's see, i painted my tails red, put in sway bar and cusco front brace, painted my bB emblem black and some other stuff. heck, some people don't notice i have rims because mine are all black. i do however get support when i do a mod everyone notices.

Lol...that's a bit harsh, but the fact that your even asking this question is strange to me due to the fact that if you took the time to do it, you found whatever it was worth it. Some people don't understand why we drive a car that looks like a box on wheels, I don't understand why people are so afraid of being different. But to me it's worth it and that's why I purchased it. The same should go to you, if its what you want adn its worth it to you....then that's all you need.

Well said, if you're happy with your mods who cares what anyone else thinks; you're the one driving it and paying for it.

Damn sorry to hear your 'loved ones' getting on your case. I have the opposite with the wife. She always tells me to go ahead and do it. I'm usually the one that holds back.
