Default Tailgate question

Is that just a bB tailgate? If so does any company make a "kit" to weld in a patch panel and new handle OR where can I order that style handle to custom up a job?

yup thats a bb, i don't know about a handle, maybe you can get it from japan, but then you need a new bumper for you plate. why not shave teh whole thing and get a popper. it would be very clean

I thought about a complete shave and am still considering it, but i like the handle and how it breaks up the huge empty spot

hah yeah I joined that long ago. I never have a real want/need to post. I've also been quite busy with other projects and now I have the time to go and work on a scion.

I thnk you could get a similar look with a door handle -- either from an xB or from another Toyota.
And if you just shaved everything, you could put a logo or other doodad in the center.

to me, that pic looks like a photo shop. look at the 2 different color bumper lights and look at the handle on the hatch, its a door handle but stretched.

correct me if i'm wrong, but hey who knows.

*shaking head*

yes, it IS a 1st gen bB.

the different color rear lights are on purpose. One's a bright reversing light and the other is a red foglight for the traffic behind you.

Gen 1 bB comes with license place area right on the rear bumper (IMO=ugly). Not sure if they only had the 1.3L 2NZFE engine. Also the front is different. Headlights are smaller, etc. Gen 2, 2.5 bB/xB look similar to the USDM xB. Except our bumpers are thicker. The license plate is on the liftgate (IMO=still ugly but better than Gen 1). Also Gen 2, 2.5 bB's dont have lift gate keyholes unlike the Gen 1.

Consider yourself corrected...

Looks the same, or did somone photochop the Japanese signs reflected in the window as part of the ruse...

I think when he says 1st and 2nd gen he's referring to the hatch. Originally they were like the pics above with the plate on the bumper, then they changed it to the way we get it now

Looks like a tuner thing... The white ones the reverse light. I wonder if the other is a brake light or if it comes on with reverse. Looks like a custom job or something in the lip kit, maybe?

Damn, I just noticed that black one has 4-spoke wheels... shweeet. :D

Default lighthouse foghorn

It is a rear fog light. When the front fogs are activated you get an extra marker for visibility in poor conditions. You see these in many coastal countries where fog rolls in off the sea and you get 100 car pile-ups. Pretty much a standard item on cars in England and Holland as well as Japan.

that is an OEM bB trunk from Japan...in order to do that to your US trunk you would have to shave the lic plate holder, and rework your complete lock latch mechanism to handle the bB ones, plus the US trunk is electronic, and those arent...

....best bet is to just buy an OEM bB trunk and do a full replacement...
