Default tC owner: xB a better choice for me?

I'm 18 and live in Upstate NY. I am planning on moving to NJ in a month or two for a better job. I'm not sure if I should stick with my tC or get an xB.

I complain that the tC is slow, so IDK how I'd feel about the xB. Though I've heard stock MANUAL xB's being faster than AUTO tCs. I LOVE the interior of my tC. But the gas milage sucks, along with COMFORTABLY.

I've test driven an xB before, and I was MONDO comfortable. AND I LOVE the feeling of it. It feels like your driving a truck, but low to the ground. Simply brilliant. And it's MAD EASY to get into. The 4 doors is also appealing since I'll be back in NJ and will have a lot of old friends that will want to chill.

I've known about Scion about a year before the cars were released. And I wanted an xB since day one. But my parents hated it because it was a "box on wheels" and they bought me a Mustang. Haha. I wanted a economic 103HP car, and they get me a Muscle Car.

So I have a tC now, since January.. . but am SO tempted owning an xB.

I'd be losing:
-153HP (new quote of 05-06's) to 103HP
-Hot interior w/ panorama sunroof.
-Hot, slick, stylish looks.

But gain:
-Better MPG
-Comfort
-Space
-One-Of-A-Kind Box Look
-Better Turning

And hopefully the xB would be cheaper insurance. It's gonna be a lot more expensive going back to NJ, but will have a better job and can PARTY!

I NEED A MONDO AMOUNT OF COMMENTS. I NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL!

i think you should ditch the tC and go with an xB and start over. Yeah you're gonna be losing all the nice power and such, but hey, you can only do so much on public roads, right ? (at least in the US ...) eh, sunroof is a nice luxury, but really, not that useful unless you really cruise around with nothing better to do. the box is hella more economical and practical than most cars out there . Also, i personally think that the tC is getting way overplayed, and everyone says it's the new civic, which i think is true. yeah the tC is an awesome car for its price, reliability, and good looks, but it's just too common. you see at least 10 of these a day. the xB is definitely a more exclusive club in terms of numbers and uniqueness. if you're gonna have friends to chill with, definitely go with an xB and do some original stuff to the interior styling. the xB community is abound with creativity, and it's a disease that's hard to get rid of once you're fully into it. Also, if you care about JDM stuff, can't go wrong with the xB, but that's only if you're willing to shell out the dinero.

In the end, the xB has basically more customization and personalization opportunities than the tC, though you lose power and sports coupe styling. but you get all that glory back once you start modding an xB. so no loss really haha.

just my opinion. good luck with deciding.

xB has all the advantages you list, so if that's what you want, get an xB.

But don't kid yourself. On its worst day, any tC will be significantly faster than any xB, transmissions or other upgrades notwithstanding. If you choose an xB, you are choosing the right lane.

Thanks guys. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Though I'm leaning to the xB. If I don't move to NJ, I'll move to Albany.. the capital of NY. So the xB's city MPG would be a nice fit.

If I get an xB, this is what I want it to look like. It's owned by a SL member. Though he just sold it... :'( I would have bought it.

There are many pros and cons between the two. Personally I would have preferred to have the tC, but it was out of my price range. Since I got the box... I can't stop thinking about it day in & day out. The box is for crusing... not built for speed. But the box is more functional and more comfotable.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on what you'll gain and what you'll lose by coming over to the box side...

I'd say do it - but then, I drive an xB. What else would I say?

If you wanted a box from the beginning its more than likely what you want now. The box got me to the dealership and thats how I found the tC. I thought I wanted speed and power, but I really wanted style. The tC is great looking, but over time it just started looking like everything else. What really got me wanting a box bad was when my tC needed service and they loaned me one. I had it for the weekend and absolutely fell in love with it. I did test drive one before I bought the tC, but lap around the block doesn't give you a good feel for it. I don't mind the horse power loss. Theres lots of ways to make it more fun than the tC. I put on some 17's, a sway bar, and lowered it. Now its like a go cart with storeage space.

*just had an idea*

Go to the dealership and see if they have xBs as rentals. Our local one does. Rent one for a few days, and see if you like it. That way, you can do city or highway driving, and drive near your home. It's like a really long and much better test drive!

I'd say go xB all the way, but then again, I own one and love it! I went to my dealership with the intent of buying a tC, but I just couldn't resist the xB's uniqueness!
