I wonder if most you people actually know that in Japan it is illegal to modify anything under the hood. They add big aluminum wings, loud "coffee can" exhausts, vinyl graphics, and body kits. If they do modify anything under the hood there are stiff penalties just like running from the police.

 

Yea, my brother is big time into Muscle cars. Here is his latest project. Over 3000 whp from a GM crate 572 block in a Charger. He liked the Mopar body but hated the power plant. Now he has the best of both worlds. I wonder if it would be considered RICE....although he does NHRA racing. 7 Sec 1/4

People always wonder why people find it offensive to use the word "ricer"... Well lets see, if "someone" called ur domestic a potato-skin or fish'n'chips how'd u feel? Now lets take it a step further ~ how'd u feel if they weren't even referring to ur car? wow smarty...do you know me personally???...I'm Japanese, my mom is Japanese, my grandma is Japanese...and I don't really hate myself...the reason people say rice is to catch a rise out of people...sure to some it may be racial, to me, if you let it get to you, then you nkow its true, if someone tells you your car looks ugly, and it gets to you, you think its ugly and you know it, but if someone calls your car ugly and you know its not, you just laugh it off, just like I'm laughing you off for calling me a fool and a racist...i've already been in one verbal argument with a guy who was being racist by asking my friend "dajap" if he was chinese or japanese for a reason that had nothing to do with the post...so think really hard next time you decide to go popping your mouth buddy, I was born and raised in downtown norfolk, virginia, extremely racially diverse area near a huge naval base, I'm in no sense of the word "ignorant" to other races.

In today's society, people can sue about anything, have freedom of speach but limited to whats acceptable and so on so forth. I believe that people need to get over their own selves and move on. No one in the car community is delibertly trying to offend you in any shape or form. No one. Its a huge family where others help others out, and people have fun doing what they want to their car. Rice is just a term of bad judgement in "mods". Its also an attitude. You know, the whole "I lowered my car, i have a muffler and stickers. I can smoke your car anyday." That, to me, is rice. Another rice-moment would be like an american car with imported parts. I beleive in the whole, american leave american, import leave import. I hate when people mix and match styles to the point of no return. Like mustangs with their $400 street fighter body kits.

Point is, if the term "rice" offends you that bad. How are you going to live? There are much worse things going on in the world to care about a term, thats not even aiming for a certain race, gender, or point blank harmful to you or anyone else. Relax, if you hate it that much. Heres what you do: Dont. Say. It. Easy as that, you'll be happy.

Well, since I'm a cracker, honkey, whitey, whatever.....I don't take offence to any of that tripe. I realize who ever is saying things like that lacks any sort of education...... and that prevents them from using words that better articulate their position. I don't believe I ever called anything rice (OK, maybe in the 70's I did, but I can't remember to many of those years )... But I also know where that term came from.

On the other hand...if what someone did to their ride looks just god awful STUPID...then I will certainly say that looks stupid.

In my experiences, racism is inherant in most cultures if not all. As people, we feel more secure with others that are like us. This pertains to not only skin color, but speech patterns (north/south...gatta love the southern draw/british, etc), education, activities, religions, etc. It's natural. What isn't natural is to degrade for these differences. That is a learned trait and wrong.

I grew up with many black friends and I heard many white jokes. Some of them were not only funny...but true. I also worked with many women and rest assured....women bash men more than men ever thought about. Women also sexually harass men beyond belief when outnumbering the man. I always looked at that as a company benefit tho....

 

Maybe if ricer ended in 'a', it would be ok to say..
