Okay so. My parents are actualy interested in getting me the xB, but how does the xB handle this extreme weather??? its gonna be like 100+ degrees this summer, will the AC crap out?? Please hook me up with some info, its almost the last deciding factor as to if i get an xB or not!

My recomendation is to get window tint to keep the int. cooler. That helped alot for me. If u have any questions please PM me ... good luck

P.S. Love the Post subject.... dont really know what that has to do with anyhting.. but..

I take mine snowboarding. It does great in the snow. The AC works good to. The Windows are tinted and so it does stay cool on the inside. Another thing, the xB is not as top heavy as it looks.

A/C hogs your gas milage, but the 2005+ models have
PLENTY of A/C to handle the box for sure!! It's been 95
and heavy humidity here in Chicagoland the past few days!

I might recommend getting the side windows and windshield
tinted a bit to help with the TX sun!

I agree with Raven with the tints. It's been mostly in the 90's here in DFW area and it's gonna get hotter. My box is an '04 and had to do the TSB on the A/C since I had that problem of not cooling enough. This box was manufactured 07/03. I don't know how well the A/C on the '05 boxes performs now.

BTW skitsoKID911, when you get your box, post up in the "DFW AREA ROLL CALL" thread.

Latez!

I got my Xb just before Christmas here in Michigan and we have some bad snow at times, It handled the snow and roads with no problem, I did push snow a few times when it was very deep but it kept right on going. The traction control is a BIG plus!!! As for the AC, we are just now getting some hot muggy weather here and it works great, it might be a bit slow getting down to temp but it can get almost too cold inside. I hope this helps you. Welcome to the world of the BOX!!

I live in the Dallas area and have my xB for a little over a month. I have the RS2.0. I am planning on tinting my windows as it's getting hot down here. The AC is marginal at best. I think that the first 2 setting on the ac are weak and it takes a lot longer for it to cool than my last car. So far I don't have a whole lot of complaints on my xb with the exception of the crappy windshield. The 3rd day I got my car I had a rock chip crack my windshield Then a week later another one. I don't think I'm going to get that fix until my windshield gets to the point where I can't see clearly on my line of vision. Other than that, I am getting use to my xB.

I live in Oklahoma and so far the A/C in my 2 month old xB has been more than adequate. Shouldn't be a problem IMHO.

Quit complaining Doug! We live in San Antonio and we just got our box for almost 3 months on June 29. We tinted our windows one shade darker and it help alot! My other friend have a box but without the window tinted, it is ok in his car with the AC on. Window tinting will make a BIG different on how cool your car feel with the AC on.

I've had my BSP xb going on nine months. As far as the air condition, man it gets so cold I have to put on the lowest setting. It really hasn't been put through the test of hot hot weather yet, but we'll find out this summer. As for the handling of it. I went to Arkansas a few months ago, it was raining so bad you couldn't see that well, but my xb handled pretty good. I've got nothing but good reviews to give the Scion xb

I live in Washington state. Today June 10 we got up to a blazing 60 degrees! Tomorrow we're on tap for a high of 56.
I plan on using my Scion AC at least once this year when we crack 70!

Can anyone tell me how much window tinting is? Is it a very expensive option, like, do you have to buy completely new windows?

Thanks guys for all your feedback!

Ya'll complain about heat? I complain about humidity! Try to breah humid air...try. Your entire skin feels sticky. You'll grasp for some air.

Anyway. Before I turn on the AC after work, I lower my windows. Drive about 2 miles to remove some heat from the interior. Turn on AC with windows still down and wait a while. Then raise the windows. Cool air. After 10 minutes it gets rather cold and I move it to the min. setting. You can tint the darkest you want, but the interior temp will remain the same. Heat will seep in and stay there until it is vented out.

Oh I still need to get my TSB for 2004 xB's performed...new compressor woohoo!
