Default Thank you to the drunk driver who totaled my car this mornin

I didn't think i'd ever have to say this on here but.......my car is officially destroyed. This morning at about 2:30 am, a driver who had been drinking rear ended my car and caused lots of damage. Im 90% sure its totaled as the drivers rear of the car was almost up against the back seat. Only the passengers front door will open. He pushed my car 30+Feet with his chevy 1500. Its been a fun year with my xB. Hey, at least I found his bowtie emblem and will keep it as a trophy. I guess we will see where it goes from here. Still really bummed as it hasn't fully set in yet. I will post a pic soon.

That one shows the distance from where I started(that pile of glass is from the rear window) to where i ended up. He even managed to get me up in the grass for 10 feet or so. I dont know if that is visible in the picture though. I will keep you guys posted if i get something new. By the way, if there are any body men on here, could you tell me if that MIGHT be totaled? There is plenty of structural damage. You might not tell for sure with the pics.

I would say deffinetly totalled. the rear beam where the frame comes back over th axle, would have to be crushed to push the back in that far. And the right rail is probably bent and thats whty the right rear door is twisted. I doubt anyone would ever consider fixing that.

Go pull some useful sellable parts off and make some money before they take the car away.

Wow, I'm so sorry to see this dude... =( I hope you get all your money back. For now, if I were you - AS A PRECAUTION - remove any parts that you added onto the xB as like aftermarket stuff - any engine mods (CAI, etc), any stero/subs/amp equipment, etc. I had a friend who had his car totalled in front of his house and the next morning when he woke up, he saw that someone had broken into the wreck and stole his entire $2,000 stero system. the glass on his car was also broken but he had the thing covered with a tarp and the a$$holes just took the tarp off late night, and with tools, remove his entire system - head unit, subs and amp. =(

best of luck to you dude. PS, if your house has a driveway, this is a lesson to you to start using it. can't say anything much more than that. sad sad pics =(

Damn! I would be sick!! At least the driver came back, hope he has good insurance. Only had my xB for 2 weeks, I would hate to loose it.
Our local dealers have lots of black, white, and some of the mica grey. The salsa Red pearl like mine is a hard color to find here in North Florida.
Hope you find a replacement soon.

Here in Fla, if the driveway is full, the front yard is the second best spot!

That SUX. It looks from your pictures that it's totaled. I hope the perp will PAY . . . .

I had the same thing happen to my then 14-year-old Caravan a few years back and the drunkard who offed her made all the right noises about paying for the damage he'd done, yadda, yadda, yadda -- and then skipped town. Unfortunately, I didn't have collision insurance, so I was out the value of the Caravan (not that much $$, actually ;^)

I assume you carry full coverage and that you'll soon have another xB. But it still SUX.

Well hopefully Pooder, the SOB who hit it has insurance that is going to cover it all. I am no expert, but I would fight any insurance adjustor who tries to tell you that box isn't totalled. Looks like to much structural damage to fix and still be worry free. Sorry to see that!

Well, thank god you weren't injured/in the vehicle. No matter how much we love our boxes -it's just a hunk of metal - you can replace it.....

dude,

ur getting a brand new box for free and if anyone tries to get in the way of that, get in touch with an attorney or something.

If you want to leave no question that it's totalled, go outside and beat the ____ out of it some more before an adjuster gets there.

Ouch, yeah. I feel for you man.

Well, it probably is totaled, but the body shop will be the ones to say for sure. Since there wasn't any damage to the engine bay (and all of the expensive parts in there) the vehicle may be saved.

Good luck!
