Are there ever deals on new Scions from the dealerships?
I took an xB for a spin at the dealer yesterday for the first time. I was wondering if they ever put these on sale or offered low APR type incentives? Also the sales guy told me they did some form of "special" pricing that translated to: "The price on the window is what you pay, no haggling, not even on your trade in.". I am just curious to see if this guy is pulling one on me or if that has been true for everyone else's buying experience? I am probably looking at buying in a month at the earliest, so one idea was maybe they would be trying to clear the 06's off the lot and would be reducing the price. That of course means you get stuck with whatever they have in their inventory and have a lot less options in terms of color, etc. Anyway, any info you guys can share is greatly appreciated!
the pure price is basically what you see on the invoice is what you pay.
as far as 'deals' and such, i have yet to hear of any discounts or anything. other than college graduate incentive and such.
edit: also, what dealership did you go to? :D

I would buy if you can get the color you want right now.
I'm sure they will not have problems getting rid of them. My local dealership can't even keep one in stock for testdrives. Scion does enforce it's Pure Pricing and you shouldn't be able to find any better deal no matter time or dealership.
Lots of rumor about how long the xb as we know it will be around... they might be real hard to get ahold of in a few months and especially if/when they do stop production.

there are supposed to be no deals on new scions any dealership that sells it for more or less can and will most probably lose their ability to sell scions.
if they sold it for 1000 less they would have made no money at all. they probably lost money....

There are never enough xB's on a lot that need clearing. There are no financing deals, 0% finance, rebates or anything like that. Go to www.scion.com and read about pure pricing.......
Thegoatlord, I went to Andy Mohr Toyota/Scion in Avon. I originally wanted one in the Shadow Mica color, but they didn't have one in manual on the lot. What I drove was a Salsa Red Pearl with manual that had foglights and the 15" alloy wheels. The only option it didn't have that I would have liked was the spoiler, but I can definitely live without that. They had at least 6 or so on the lot on Monday. Unfortunately I won't really be in a position to make a purchase for at least a month, so I guess I will just have to hope they still have one I want at that point.
I take it there are plans to possibly drop the xB from some of your comments? Are they just thinking about phasing it out or replacing it with something similar?

Supposedly 06 is the last year for the xB/xA. Then the replacements come out in 07 as 08 Models. They are supposed to be different. I would definetly make a move quick if you want a New xB. You can always buy a used one though
I also raise the B.S. flag on the guy that said he got 1000 off.

The rumor is Scion only wants each model to be in production for 3 years... dosen't seem very profitable to me.
Look around in the forums here there is lots of talk about what is next and how long the xb will be in production.

what do you mean not very profitable. if you think about it.. all the other cars.. you can mark up... and mostly sell udner msrp... scion sells for sticker.. the only thing is tax exempt for military... sometime... they will let you do that.. but that doesn't affect toyota or the dealership..
I'm sure thats nice for the dealerships but I mean not very profitable in terms of production... the r&d that goes into creating a new model and the tooling to produce a vehicle must be huge. It seems like it would take longer than three years to break even.
I am pretty sure they break even wayyyy before 3 years
Anyways, why is everyone so mad that they are only putting the models out for 3 years at a time. It makes it way cooler to own one .

I'd get one ASAP. When do you plan on getting it in August or September? If so I think you should be ok with getting the Shadow Mica with 5 speed. I'm planning on getting one too but towards the end of the year. I've read many places that they're gonna cease production in December so I just might order it in November so I can get wat I want on it.
I'm now just trying to save as much $$$ as I can til then.
So I now
that I can get one.
I recently saw an ad on TV from an Orlando FL dealer for a Scion Xb (new) for $13,999. But there was no mention of the dealer service fee that a number of dealreships add to inflate their profit. This varies locally from $500 to $700+. And although Scion has a one price policy, there is no law holding the dealers to honor it, just internal Toyota distributor policy. The dealership is not part of Toyota, they just carry the product line.
As far as profitability goes, the development costs were already absorbed by the JDM version of the bB. Certification for US market basically were the only model specific addtional cost needing coverage. In other words...anything over direct production costs and shipping is pure profit. Toyota uses parts and assemblies over and over between model lines. This saves money, developement time, and makes for an integrated product line (and all those corporate savings). The fast turnover of the model (3 years) means that Toyota has a built in motivator to meet changing customer demand while beating the competition. Plus a less desirable (dog) model can be lifecycled out relatively quickly.
Buy a Scion because you like it now. Another car will come along later you'll like as well.

As I said in another thread, it is cool that they are limited production, but there are some potential drawbacks too. Mainly replacement parts down the road start getting pricier or harder to come by. I know many of the core components come from other Toyota models, but obviously not the exterior sheet metal, or a replacement headlamp etc. Anyway, none of that would prevent me from buying a box of my own once I get the wife to the dealership to make sure she is going to be happy with it as well.
As to 2006 being the last year possibly.. I did some googling and found this article dated July 1, 2006 saying there will be no changes to the xB for the 2007 model...

Anyone confirm this?

The only thing I could get as far as a deal goes is free oil changes for life on my 05 Scion TC. Truth is that even though the car has a no haggle price you can deal for your accessories. Scion wants over $300 dollors for the stupid lip. trust me you can get them to knock off a few bucks for it. The same goes for other accesories.

I got mine back in March at $420 off list.
The dealer allocation is based on the sales from 6 months prior, which were high months - but they don't sell as many December - March in Denver, so they wanted to move some quickly. They can have deals as long as the price they post is the price they sell at.
