Default Thinking of getting an XB

Hello, Newbie here. Few questions here. I might answer them myself but if i'm wrong than please tell me.

1) Can you negotiate the price on the Scion?

2) Does the windsheild get damaged from rocks more than a regular car?

3) Average M.P.G. (Auto) 33-35?

4) Scion group in So Ca?

5) Is there a center consol? If there is, are there different types?
The only mod i would plan on doing is intake and tint all the windows. Othere than that it would be my daily driver. Since i drive for a living. (200-300 miles/day)

The reason i asked about the windsheild is that i know someone that has an XB. He said he replaced his windsheild 3 times allready. I was just wondering if that it was somthing i should be concerned about or is it that he just has very bad luck.

Although I've got several chips, some really badly starred, I haven't had any of the cracks move much at all. It is pitted like it was sandblasted. I don't think it's any worse than other cars with an angle like this. Luck and road conditions may vary your results. Didn't haggle, didn't want to waste that kinda time, glad it wasn't needed. I get a pretty solid 27-29 but I drive pretty fast. I notice a jump in MPG when I have the kids or wife with me... I've got the auto and love it. If someone tells you the stick is faster, their reaction time and shifts better be perfect! IMO, of course...

The original chapter of the largest National Scion Enthusiasts club is located in So Cal. Great group of guys and gals as well as a great resource for all things Scion:

Default questions

1. You cannot negotiate the price of a Scion as Toyota Corp. has mandated if a dealer allows haggling on Scion vehicles the Dealer could lose their Scion liscense
2. I have had absolutely no problems with my windhsield after 2.5 months
3. As far as I can tell the suggested MPG never happens. I have not modded my box at all and I've never got above 29 MPG highway or city, but I have never done just highway driving, always a combination of the two.
4. I dont live in SoCal but I am almost positive there is a Scion group.
5. There are several aftermarket center consoles avialable.

You can negotiate if it is a demo car or dealer leftover. I was able to get a great price on mine but it had 6K miles on it and was sold as used. Brand new Scions aren't negotiable. You might be able to save some cash by checking what different dealers charge as a 'document' or 'procurement' fee. I checked out Scions at 2 different dealers. One charge $299 and the other charge $39.

As far as MPG the best I have gotten was around 33, average is 29 - 31, mostly highway, 80MPH @ around 3200 RPM.

Wow, 200 to 300 miles per day?

You should be concerned about a larger gas tank. You will be filling your tank almost every day to 1.5 day.

300 miles per day??? Heck I'd love to get that many out of a tank. I ran out of gas at 289! So no they don't get the mileage claims unless you happen to be in the 15% bracket of people on this site that say they do. (They probably keep in under 60mph and have the 5 speed and stock tires.)
Yes they are prone to rock chips.
No you can't negotiate the price. But you can look on the web and check what the dealers charge for their Documentation Fees. They differ several hundred dollars between dealers.
Yes as stated before Scion Evolution is in So.Cal.

What is the size of the gas tank?

Where is the XB assembled? Japan or USA?

I missed the second half of the question
It is my understanding that all Scions are manufactured in Japan

The sencond question is regarding where the scion was assembled. On the vin #. Is the first symbol a J or a 1?
J=Japan
1=USA
For example, A honda civic has a 1. So it was assembled in USA.

Well i went and test drove the XB today. It's nice and roomy on the inside. They had a few available at the dealership. It's a bit on the stiff side. But i don't mind that. We are going back to the dealership in a few hours without our daughter so we can have a better look and drive of it.
