Default Throwing Code :(

Today, out of the blue, driving normally at 30mph. I noticed some wonderful lights on the dash. VSC, TRAC off, and CEL.

I heard from somone that it could be MAF sensor on the cai. I have never cleaned it or the cone and the car is at 37k going on 2 years as a DD.

Not sure thats the problem though. I also heard from a scion owner who did the exhaust thing like mine. ie: full catback. That he fried the 02 sensor. I hade 2 1/4 inch piping welded onto the back of the cat, not interfering with the 02 sensor. Offering more breathing room and a nicer sound to the Borla axle back. This was done about a month ago. I've driven over a thousand miles since then.

Any other ideas?

I definatly need to go to Autozone though for the free code reading

Buebie--do a search and you will see a lot of threads on this problem. Everything from the gas cap not being on tight to the MAF sensor. I would bet the recent work you did caused the problem. I had the problem and it was not cured until I got a new alternator. As I said--lots of root causes.

Thanks, hope its not somthing I did...dont want to have to pay for this outa pocket.

I did a search but didnt see what I was looking for without pages of useless crap.
My main fear though, is that its somthing not realating to my mod of the exhaust...but the stealership will push it that it is? Not to say that all dealerships are bad....thats just my worst case scenario fear.

Find out what the code is before you freak out. It is probably something simple-stupid.

I just had the same lights come on after I installed my tailights. The driver reverse light and brake light didnt work correctly at first. This is when the lights came on. A couple days later I took the light out and played with the connection. The tailights worked perfectly now and still had the lights on the dash on. But after about an hour of driving they went out.

I cant figure this crap out. It was doing this saturday, didnt drive the car again until monday morning. Fire it up, nothing is wrong, lights are not coming on, traction control works fine.

I dont know if it was the heat or what.

It doesnt get very hot here in Minnesota. I used to live in Phoenix, I know what hot is.
But on Saturday it was 101 degrees, with 25% humidity. Its almost worse then 120 and dry. I am starting to wonder if this played a role.

I did not reset the eco, I did nothing to the car between saturday and mondey...Just popped the hood saturday night and tapped on the maf sensor.

Go to your local parts store, they will let you use one of their code readers. You should know what comes up and see if you need to get it checked.

Try 101 with 80% humidity. That's what we've been getting lately.

Local Auto Zone stores will read your codes for free. Once they retrieve a code, then they can look it up.
