Is there any way to calculate what percentage tint needs to go over the back to get a desired percent rating?

I want to 20 or 25 percent all the way around, but I don't want the tint to be uneven from front to back.

I thought that maybe if I put a 45 or 50% tint on the back glass, it would probably drop it down to 25% or so if the stock glass is about 30%; but I wanted to know if there was anyway to calculate it.

I don't know about the calculation but the rear glass is closer to 20% not 30%. SC state law requires the front to be no darker than 27% and mine are legal. They are lighter than the rear glass.

Default tinting

I had all my windows tinted, 35% on front two (texas state limit) and the rest is blacked out, the shop used 3M window film, which has more of a black color to it rather than brownish or purple. I had the same place tint my Monte Carlo. As for the loss of use of the antenna i didn't see any change. But it is pretty dark, to compare when i park next to other scions with factory tint, you can see totally through theirs but you got to be right up on mine and still can't see in. Can't really see all that great at night out the back. Is a pain in the a** when someone breaks into your car getting it all back to normal. Over all though it is a great mod (if it can be called that) I had it done by a place here in tyler called Mitch's Car Audio they do AWESOME tinting work good luck

all the tint laws are already posted in this site's FAQ/Tech section. Have been for years.

The "tintcenter"'s are out of date. The most up to date listings are kept by the IWFA, which what this site is mirroring to.
