Default Top Speed

Hey all,
I just had a customer ask me what the top speed on the Scion is. I've never taken mine over 100mph, and I ran a search and couldn't find anything, so I was hoping someone here would know.

Also, is there a speed limiter on Scions?

Keep in mind that the speedometer is somewhat optomistic! Mine, on stock wheels and tires reads about 3MPH low (against a GPS) at 65MPH, which translates out to a 4.6 percent error. Apply this error to a speed of 114MPH (dangerous, as the error might not be liinear!) and you get a speed of 109MPH.

This is still a lot faster than I want to go in my little box!

I hit 110 also and thats all she wrote. When I hit the grapevine in march I will see how fast she goes going down hill.

But that's almost 10 miles above 90mph. I'll take that anyday.

i've hit 115.. after that speed i feel that any speed after that is like coasting it to max.. its lame.. 110-115 is like max speed in my opinion on a baseline xb 5speed

I tried maxing out yesterday after the Cerritos mini meet, and by the time I reached about 100 mph, I looked in my rear view mirror, and who else but a cop was there. I got pulled over and he said he clocked me at 93, and I was happy he didn't get me when i was passed 100, or i really would have been in deep sh*t. I probably have to end up doing traffic school, since it is my first ticket.

I'm not going to try to max out any time soon!

The top speed or should I say the computer restricted speed is probably at 114MPH to 115MPH. This 1.5L engine should be able to run 120~130MPH before the engine going to blow
Most Japanese car (specially the 4cylinders) are limited 180KPH because the stupid Japanese law. Yes, you can take a "stock" Supra Turbo or Skyline cause they only go up to 180KPH in Japan. My friend was driving his 2000 camry and went to 115MPH, we knew the car can go faster than that but the fuel cut at that speed... Not to mention his Camry is made in Japan, just like rest of our xAs and xBs

I took it to 110MPH and and back off... I don't see a point for me to max out the xB... (It takes forever anyways) I have cars that can easily goto 130~140MPH range
But I have proved that the Red Genie kit woun't break loose at 110MPH :D

Lucky you man... My friend got a ticket at 105MPH I think... and he need to choose between a commuity service for few month at somewhere 100 miles away from home or paying a $700 ticket

speedo registered about 115, paced at 111 by Caddy STS w/ digital readout, and wasn't pushed all the way (but probably close)

- as a side note, I've gotten alot of crap from people about the "dismal" performance of the xB ... well, it goes fast enough to put you in jail, do ya need to go faster??
