Default Ouch - Been there done that

I've done the same thing with my last car, a 1998 Mercury Mystique. But she was much prettier than looking at gas price signs.

Questions for you?

1. Did the dash crack?
2. Did the impact of the cover on the passenger side front airbag crack the windshield?
3. Did you get any burns on your hands when the airbag deployed? (I had a matching set of burns on my hands...which I hear is pretty normal in airbag deployment.

Looks pretty bad. Did you get an insurance estimate yet?

Not sure if you experienced the same noise I did, but airbag deployment is LOUD!!!

Hope all is better and you get a new Scion soon.

Andy

Ouch................ It's not your fault until the jury is in. Next time don't put it in writing. Just say, "please contact my insurance company." Are you sure he didn't back up into you???

no cracked dashed, no cracked winidshield, the insurance estimate was for about 16,000 dollars, so they totaled it! so they wrote a check for about 12,600

which is actually interesting that they shoot that low on a replacement, seeing as how anywhere I've checked for the last year has the old xAs valued the same at the new ones.

I hope any mods you had done you might have actually mentioned to the insurance people before the wreck so that you might have been able to recover some of that.
