Well said! My score was 890 when I bought in '06.

I choose the xB ONLY because I liked the style and MPG, plus it was made by Toyota.

Sticks and stones...

I don't find this funny at all, and I have excellent credit. Amazing that an executive would actually say this out loud.

From Brandweek:

Bill Burris, Toyota’s advertising manager, said other Toyota brands aren’t necessarily stealing Scion’s customers. “It’s a danger here but we have a handshake agreement not to fish in each other’s pond,” said Burris. “I have joke I like, and it’s the difference between a Corolla buyer and a Scion buyer is that the Corolla buyer has a better FICO [credit rating] score.”

i dont think that was insulting at all. the only ones insulted are the ones that fall into the category of what he said. if you are a scion buyer w/good credit, then why get insulted over this?

maybe it was a funny/silly thing to say but i dont think it's anything he would get fired over. and you also cant read into what he said and assume he's talking about "kids."

Not sure if that was a typo (I REALLY hope it was), but the highest FICO possible is 850....

Nope, not a typo.

But you are right, its not FICO but...umm....I want to say Advantage, or something like that. Im not sure on the conversion to FICO....

Was at 910 when I ran it to move into my new place a few weeks ago.

Wow.... Never even heard of it.... But it's probably just where I work, since we deal with FICO only

Actually, I wthink its Vantage, not addvantage.

I read on the Equifax website that they give FICO scores up to 900, but most consumers fall between 500 and 850.

Hate to tell you but the Scion owners have poorer credit statement is caused by the dealers.

I have people come in to buy Corollas or Yaris when I worked for a dealership and have bad credit so they could not get financed. Guess what the management would tell me to do... "See if you can get them on an xA or and xB"

So since they had bad credit and they wanted to sell them a car, they would sell them a Scion. This irritated me. I wanted to work with people who were buying Scions cause they liked them, not cause that was the only way they could buy a new car.

Why because I hate any kind of typecasting and I not fall into that category... I expected better from a company that preaches loyalty..... I thought Scion was different than Lexus but I guess not

oh and its a toyota/scion dealer and even the scion guys do it
very stupid.... I am in sales have been all my life I sell homes in the $300,000 to $750,000 range.....If you treat a "can buy" customer like this they go away....and if they are parking lot qualifying folks so they ask for credit first.......I would contend they are not that smart

the dealership goofed my credit a bit.
the first time i went to talk to them about the car i wanted (12/06) they ran threw 27 different lenders and it dropped my credit score by about 20 points. i was so mad.
i came back (3/07) to close on the deal and i told them about 27 hitts showing up on my credit report and about my score dropping. the finance guy swore he only ran it threw 3.
i told him not to do it again.
so i got the exact car i wanted.
a few weeks latter i checked my credit report again, GRRRRRRRRRR, 18 hits and my score dropped again.
i was so mad.
no real big deal hits drop of in 6 months and my score is up to 745 now so no long term damage.
it just made me so mad the he ran it threw so meny lenders.

Taken from Wikipedia

A FICO score is between 300 and 850, exhibiting a left-skewed distribution with 60% of scores between 650 and 799.[2] According to Fair Isaac the median score is 723 (half of scores above and below) whereas according to Experian (using the Fair Isaac risk model) the average credit score is 678 (lowest scores are farther from the median than the highest scores). The performance of the scores is monitored and the scores are periodically aligned so that a credit grantor normally does not need to be concerned about which score card was employed.

Each individual actually has three credit scores for any given scoring model because the three credit agencies have their own databases. As these databases are independent of each other, they may contain entirely different data. Many lenders will check an applicant's score from each bureau and use the median score to determine the applicant's credit worthiness.

VantageScore ranges from 501 to 990 and offers letter grades as well: A (901-990), B (801-900), C (701-800), D (601-700), and F (501-600).

Yeah, I paid $23K cash for my tC - I'm a loser...
What a dip - sounds like sour grapes to me.
Maybe those dopey entry-level Toy's aren't selling as well as Scions?

y do people waste so much time over analyzing the political correctness of stupid comments like this? The guy is makin a minorly defendable joke, so don't take it as a literal attack. The media already wastes air time blowing garbage like this out of proportion...lets not do the same

If someone wrote down everything we say daily, how many times would you get called out?

This dude has more responsibility as a toyota rep, but come on. we've all done this **** before.

Maybe it was just his way of rousing up potential Scion buyers to come take a look at the NEW Corolla coming out shortly = and thus help to prop up sales of the new Corolla ?? Just a guess.

Also, something I found interesting when I was going through financing when buying my xA a year ago, I learned that the 100K mile warrenty on the xA / xB( I assume) was right about $1250 cost , vs. the Corolla 100K mile warrenty = $2200 From my understanding/resoning why this was, was mainly due to Scions being built in Japan(possibly higher QA there ??) , vs. Corollas are ALL built here in the USA (possibly less QA in the USA ???) , just like the Camery, Tacomas, and Tundras.

Toyota has all the calculations configured as to which models/ parts(mechanical, etc.) have a higher fail rate, etc. ........ so that is an excellent way to guage the probable build quality of a vehicle, not 100% exact , but as close as you can
