Toyota exec insults Scion's clientele
It was a joke. Sometimes what makes a good joke funny is that it is close to the truth. If you were offended then maybe it hit a little close to home. Is that his fault? I am going to buy whatever car I want based on the car, not on what someone says.

It may have been something that he should have kept to himself, but he's the one who deals with the numbers and statistics every day. I'm sure his first hand experience with Scion/Toyota is more accurate than any Scionlife member's best guess.
Just look at who Scion markets to. Look at the ads filled with hip-hop music and baggy pants. They brag about having the youngest average owners...
Now look at Toyota's target demo. The small family, the college grads, ect. The average Corolla buyer probably does have a better credit score than the young kid who wants to go street race in a tC.
Slip of the tounge on his part? Yes. Offensive? Not really.

His comment doesn't bother me at all.
Just that, as someone who basically paid for his xB with a WalMart bag full of cash, my next choice between an FJ or a Jeep just became real simple. Wranglers look good in the driveway next to an xB, and Jeep execs keep the stupid ____ off the airwaves.

I'm not offended either. My wife and I could have spent a lot more than we did on our pair of xB's. I bet if someone wrote down every thing I said all day long I'd unwittingly offend someone for the sake of trying to be funny.
I don't base my automotive purchases on statements made by executives. I certainly don't base my choices on what the "experts" that write for automotive magazines tell me to buy either.
In this world of sickening "political correctness" where someone finds offense in everything, I'll make my own decisions, thank you.

I am not your typical Scion xB owner. My Personal vehicle is used as a Company Vehicle which I do extensive travel in the field.
I am Reimbursed on average $750+ a month. That means an extra $9,000+ a year over and above my salary.
That easily covers my gas, insurance, and very little maintenance on a highly reliable car. I paid cash for my Box.
Speaking for myself, it is Definately a Solid Investment and Money Maker for me.

I run my liability up to 6200 RPM each and every day, and while its not a neck snapper, its a whole lot of fun. Screw the world, I love my box.
Volant Airbox with Proprietary Mods. Soon, exhaust mods, and more fun, yeah.

Just a thought on the downward spiral of the economy and the pending severe credit crunch;;
when you receive your tax returns and that $600 so called government freebie...
my suggestion is that you pay off as many credit cards and consumer loans as possible.
start by paying off those with the highest interest rates first and work your way down to the lowest interest rate ones..
I really feel that we ain't seen nuttin yet on this .. and it's only gonna git hella worse before it gets any better

I've had a Corolla, Land Cruiser, Pickup and Sequoia. I have an xB now. Funny, my FICO is 839 now, better than when I bought the Toyotas. And except for the LC, I like the xB better! Go F'n figure.
