Im more worried about once my car goes out of warranty the tip will fall off. I did buy the extended warranty but i dont know if it would cover it. I may have my dad look at mine and see if he notices the welds not done right, he wields so he should know what to look for

STILL WAITING!!!

Called the dealership today and my service advisor told me that he was told that the RS2.0 DC Sports exhausts were discontinued and that he would have to look into what to do about it...I explained that this was PART of the RS2.0 package and without the same exhaust my RS2.0 would not be "original."

I will let you know what happens...Been 2 months since mine fell off...I really hate the sound of my exhaust right now...

Same problem I had. They are not discontinued. They only say that if your vin number
is not entered at the time of order. That keeps non RS cars from ordering RS parts.
They must put in your vin number.

PM me your phone number if you need more info. I will call you back.

^^^^I know, when he called me yesterday to tell me this I told him he was wrong...He said to me that it sounds like I know alot more than he does about this...I know for a fact, that this service tech never read any of this thread I told him about...I told him I wanted the SAME exhaust and he said he would call me back...

Well all be damned if my service advisor didnt call today and say that he found an RS2.0 exhaust and that it would be here Tuesday...He told me that it IS the RS2.0 one so I will see...

People need to stay on top of their service advisors on these things...Persistance paid off...

I will let you know how it goes...

BTW, I got so frustrated with this exhaust dilema that I was able to get a local shop to sponser me a complete exhaust (cat-back)...They are installing a magnaflow and I'm having them put dual squared exhaust tips...I will post pics when done!

^^At least there is a semi-happy ending to your saga. I hate it when people try to cover up their ignorance by acting like a jacka$$, it's ridiculous

make sure you check the exhaust before they install it

It took me 10 mins of back and forth bickering before they would let me see the exhaust to make sure it is the right one

i dont think they will just give it to you, since they need your old one and all, and they might make up some other excuses to withhold it from you. You should let them install it, then head over the the exhaust shop and have the custom one done up.

Well, I am also glad that I found this post!

Today the same thing happened to me. I was driving down the road and heard a loud clank like I ran over something. Went back to where it happened and there was my exhaust tip. I have yet to go to the dealer and resolve the issue.

Just to note, I have a completely stock RS2 and had this problem. I thought that I would add that for those dealers that say it is a result of lowering, mods or whatever.

Default Trouble with RS 2.0 exhaust

Well I just found cracks in mine yesterday. I hope my extended warrenty covers it as I have 38k miles on mine. Will be contacting the dealership monday. If they won't cover it, I will probably take it off and reweld it. I have already contacted Scion about this probley. They say that there is not a big enough problem to start a recall.

^^^Well I FINALLY got my replacement RS2.0 exhaust from the dealership yesterday...What a headache and i'm glad it's over...Since I have a new sponsored full exhaust system installed now, i will not be using the DC Sports one...I'am selling it to someone here locally that also has an RS2.0 and wants to do dual exhaust...Don't let the dealerships try to tell you that they are discontinued...Because they are a limited release series part, it may take awhile to get it(like mine did)...Good luck to those that are going through this problem and good luck to those that WILL...By the way, I love my new Magnaflow exhaust, check this link below for the pics!

My tip fell off about a month ago while I was driving on the freeway (thankfully it didn't hit anyone). I brought my car in to the dealership and they didn't give me any problems - at first. The service manager said he had to order the part and that they would call me when it's ready. I waited two weeks and received no call, so I called them. They told me the exhaust was still on order so I called them back a week later. He said the part would be in by Monday (this was Friday) and that I should stop by on Tuesday to have it installed. So I did.

Unfortunately, when I got there he said he couldn't do it because it would take too long to install it and that his welding guy already left. I thought to myself, "welding guy?". He told me that he wanted to weld the new exhaust on to make sure it doesn't rattle. I told him I would prefer to have it bolted on like normal. He agreed but he said it still wasn't possible to install the new exhaust that day, so I returned today.

I got there around 8:40am, the car was done around 10:20am. I have no idea why it took so long, I ended up being late for class. I didn't even bother to check the exhaust before I left because I had to leave right away. When I finally got to school, I checked the exhaust and it looked totally different (and sounded different too). Apparently they installed a TRD exhaust instead of the DC Sports one that came with the RS 2.0 package. It looks really weird too, like a hack job. Then again, I don't know what it should look like. The part # is PTR06-52031-50.

If anybody could give me advice about what I should do that would be great.

Call Scion first and file a claim. Then call the service manager direct. If they balk ask
for the general manager. Tell them you have filed a claim for their fraudulent work. You
have all the facts on this forum to back up your rights. They can't substitute parts on
an RS car. Just like on my car they don't have a clue what they are doing. PM me if you
need someone to do a three way call and I will yell at them. I have a lot of practice
yelling at dealerships.

First of all I'm angry that it took so long for them to fix my car. Secondly I'm mad that they installed the wrong part and didn't say anything to me about the substitution. Part of me wants to go back and make them put the correct exhaust on, and part of me wants to give up and just keep the TRD. The sound is totally different, not bad, just not as loud. My only concern with the DC Sports exhaust is that the tip may fall off again. I've been reading through this thread and some people have gone through a couple of them already.

Yah, I'm on my third but that is not the point. You have a limited edition car and
they should only put the correct parts on it.

Default Any advice?

So, I have 45,000 on the odometer, and I'm driving down the highway, and the tip falls off, just like all the other folks on this thread. (It hits a big SUV behind me, but that's another story.)

I've taken it to the dealer, and they seem cognizant of the part--they mentioned that it's a DC Sports muffler, and recognized that it's different--but haven't given me the bad news as to whether they'll replace it, since it's out of warranty.

Any advice on folks to call/write to/etc? Parts shouldn't actually fall off a car this soon into its lifespan.

Of course, I could always hope that Scion does the right thing and issues a recall, I suppose.
