Just because you ran the juice, it doesn't mean that this was the reason for the bent valve.

right. but regardless...it seems like they can just pin the "abuse" on me and the warranty goes. thats why im wondering if its worth having them take it apart and risk the $900 if they do void it

If I was you, I would bite the bullet and sign. If they charge you $900 to fix your motor- big deal, you F'ed it up, fix it!

And BTW, it will cost more than $900 to replace your motor!

So you're trying to get Toyota to fix your car for free even though you willfully modified your engine in a way that voids the warranty? What was it again you needed help with?
I would guess, he needs help in figuring out a way to lie to TOYOTA.

Look, seriously, I'm sorry this happened to you, but you got to know, you mess with something that voids the warranty, you gonna pay the price...It's just that simple.

Take this for what it's worth but my uncle is a mechanic and he worked on my car all the time (not my scion but my sports cars) and I asked him to install NOS in my Mustang and if there was any way to test for it when it came to inspecion times. He told me the only way to detect it is if it shows up in the chip as a spike in heat, power, speed and if they are suspicious of NOS they would have to do a forensics test to try and find a sample of the NOS in your engine or where you might have stored the bottle. I wouldn't worry about it. Get what they dealer said in writing about that being a common problem with the heads so if need be you could take them to court about it.

i think ill just talk to the service rep tomorrow. i just feel that if they want to void it they have the power to, just with that one word "Abuse". its definately not worth $900 for me to find out if they decide to void it or not. im leaning towards just saying no. ill let u guys know tomorrow how it went

$400 for a used motor with high miles mabey. but then you have to install it. I know everyone on here is ragging on you, but I would suck ___ to the dealership, and mabey the tech is having a bad day and dosent notice what you have done....

Ok so u you juiced it and now its broken so basically you play you pay we all make mistakes in life but some of us just take it in stride. If I were you i would just act like you have no clue how it happened because bottom line the customer is always right and being able to be happy enough to recommend a dealership to another is there best advertisement so they will do what will make you happy and keep you that way so that business moves on. Dealers have mechanics on staff because all cars breakdown so dont sweat it just play stupid act like you were driving on the highway and you were passing a truck then you felt it hesitating or whatever the symptoms are . Figure it out it will work out for you.

i went to the dealership and the guy asked me if i did anything. i said no. he said that it is most likely a bent intake valve. they are tearing apart the motor as we speak. we shall see how it turns out

I'm really surprised the dealership didn't grill you a little more on this. "Overreving" or not, it's REALLY hard to break one of these motors.

The good news for you is that the service department probably wants Toyota to pay for the work too (they pay more). Most Service departments are not the Gestappo or anything, they just want work so they can pay their guys. They will probably overlook the information the OBDII computer tells them because of that (and they CAN tell with the computer).

Usually when they talk about "abuse" it means "lack of maintainance," not "racing" or whatever.

Now, with all that said, you know you broke your motor and are weaseling out of it. That's some bad karma dude. I wouldn't try it if it were me, but I wouldn't stress my little motor like that either.

Just my .02.

As a business owner, I am very opinionated regarding "warranty" work. Most people seem to believe that, if they can get away with something, they should do it. That doesn't excuse your actions here. If you have to pay, take it like a man. You made your choices and you're taking your chances. No one else should have to pay for your choices. If you pull that stuff in my shop, it comes out of MY pocket. That's stealing, pure and simple.

Assuming that what he did actually caused the problem. I highly doubt it is the first bent valve on a 1nzfe. Things happen, that's why there's a warranty to begin with.

Yes, and the service department gets to make the call on that.

i am gonna pay if it comes down to it. i just dont want to pay $950 when i can get a used echo motor for $500. cuz that $950 means the engine is still screwed up, thast just paying for a diagnosis.

i don't believe that if anyone else screwed up their motor by over revving or using nitrous, they wouldnt first try warrantying it. but its in the shop now. i gave them the go ahead. hopefully we can learn from this. don't run the squeeze too hard.
