Useless cubbies behind steering wheel, how to make doors?
I love the fact that Scion created those cubbies, but without the ability to secure the stuff in there, they are useless!
Has anyone created little doors for those similar to the dash stash?
I would be willing to try on my 05, but need the plastic material or "snake skin" stuff to use. Anyone have any luck finding that stuff?
I wonder if it would be more practical to pull the entire piece and refab something custom with larger / more useful cubbies?
Comments, ideas?

I have no prob with my cubbies. the one on the right holds my cell and the one on the left hods my sunglasses. The top one holds air really well. My stuff doesn't slide at all. 1 time my sunglasses fell cause I was driving like a retard for the fun of it, but when driving normal, and even abnormal (most of the time) my crap stays put. It may be easier to use some velcro or something like that if you have trouble. Fabbing doors would probaby be difficult. BTW, i'm in an '04 xB not sure if your cubbies are the same as mine.

The other concern I have and why I would consider it is for appearance. whenever you put stuff in cubbies, it looks cluttered. Consider your dash stash with the door. How would your XB look right now if I took the door off? I know mine has a stack of cd / cases and maybe small trash in it.....
Just my thoughts.

I'm going to have to try the cell phone trick. I was sitting in my car today wondering just what in the hell those cubbies were for. For some reason, it never dawned on my to throw my cell phone in there. :?

Left holds Business cards/cell phone. Center above wheel holds sunglasses/eye glasses/ right holds gate opener for Apartment complex and misc. stuff
Only time stuff came out was when I was rear ended at a stop light.

maybe consider getting some of that sticky pad stuff that you see at the checkouts at Office Depot / Office Max / etc... maybe you could stick some of that on the bottom of the holes and then your wreckless / crazy / insane driving wouldn't be able to "sling" that stuff out...

Inside the center cubby under the radio is a business card holder on the inside of the door.
I bought a sheet of that no slide 'um stuff that normally is sold to have a place on your dash to set your cell phone-cut it up and put it in the left "sunglass" cubby.
Anybody found any use for the one over the fuse panel to the left and below the steering? It has some sort of clip holding looking slot on top of it?
