Violent b's Mirror Mod with pic's
Being a tall guy (6'5") the xB is a great vehicle. any vehicle I can sit comfotably is a great vehicle. Anyway, one thing that has bugged me it the rear view mirror placement. When I look out the front window and to the right a little the mirror is right there. So with a little cutting I solved that problem. All you are going to do is just reverse the mounting of the mirror mount.
Here's how I did it:
1) remove rear view mirror. just unsnap screw cover at the base of the mirror then remove (2) phillips screws, mirror comes out. (sorry no pic of that.)
2) Loosen the phillips screw on the back of the mirror. Don't take it all the way out because it's a pain to get the screw back into the threaded hole inside the mirror.
3) pop out the mirror mount from the mirror itself.

4) Take a dremmel

and cut some of the back of the mirror housing and part of the black socket to accomodate the mirror mount ball so it can angle down far enough so you can see out it when installed. how much of an angle you need will determine how much you need to cut.

File down any rough looking cuts but don't worry too much because when it's mounted you will not see any of the modifications.
5) Put the ball mount back into the mirror and it should look like this:

don't forget to tighten the screw on the back of the mirror so the mirror won't flop around on you.
remount the mirror base to the headliner and replace the screw cover and you're done!
so the finished product looks like this:

the mirror was moved up about 1.5" to 2" and it mad a BIG difference to me. I didn't want to go with an aftermarket mirror because it looks "aftermarket". you can still move the visors, the driver side hits a little but the passenger side one doesn't.
I don't know if anyone else had the same issue with the mirror but here is one way to solve it.
