Default Warning Lights Illuminated after servicing. Help?

I had the oil changed and had the xB detailed today and as I'm driving home I noticed that my 'check engine', 'traction control off' and 'VSC' lights are now lit. Also, the oil change guys didnt reset the 'maintenance required' light. Can this be done without the ODBC tool (or whatever the hell it's called)?

Is this something simple like the gas cap not being screwed on tight enough or is this something I'm going to need to take it into the Scion dealership.

Any advice is appreciated. I dont like it when my xB is sick...

Try these ...

First, reset the oil change light. Make sure your odo is on the reg mileage setting. Take your key and turn it to acc. while holding in the re-set button. Youll see the little dashes blink and then go away. Now your reset.

I would check your oil first. Make sure they put some back in. My cousing went to an oil changing facility and they didnt install the oil plug .. so she drove her Saturn home with no oil in it.

Remove then re-install your fuel cap.

If that doesn work then you might want to try and remove the negative from the battery. Give it a couple of minutes and then re-install.

I would also call the place that did the oil change, and tell them that all the idiot lights are on and that you are having it looked into. This way they cant say you never called them, or that you waited too long. IF they want you to come back for them to take a look at it, tell them that they will need to have it towed, as your not sure if its safe to drive.

This is another reason to do your own oil changes and detailing. LMAO

I work 55+ hours a week, have a 5 month old, draw a comic strip, write a blog and still try to have a social life and spend time with my wife. My time is more valuable than the 25 dollars it cost for the oil change.

Excuse the hell out of me for assuming that I could use the services of a 'professional' and free up some time.

Yet another example of why you should have your box serviced at the dealer.

That is true. From some of the Sciotics guys around here I hear that our local Scion dealer is great.

Next time, that is where it's going.

Touchy aren't we? All I was basically saying is that you get what you pay for. Why would you trust your beloved xB to some oil change hack???

I'm sorry but an oil change only takes like 5-10 minutes plus you would know it's done right. What is that piece of mind worth to ya? It means a hellova lot to me. I'd never pay someone to do anything I can do myself. Plus it builds a bond between you and your xB.
Oh, and the dealer ain't much better. Sometimes it's worse because you have to pay more for the xB abuse.

I suppose you're right. I'm just upset that the xB is having problems. It's like having a sick family member.

Sorry for my touchy-ness.

I agree 100%. Something like that or a simple tune up i do myself, cause i know what is going into the car. The same car i busted my*ss to pay for myself.

Although i do understand that sometimes there doesnt seem to be enough time in the day to get a simple oil change done. I went to a Jiffy Lube back in college while i was working 60 hrs a week on top of school. After spending an hour for an oil change and new air filter i decided never to do it again. Not only did they over fill the oil pan, they lost one of the 2 wing nuts for the air filter box and left oily hand prints on the outside and inside of my truck. It wasnt long after that that my cousin had hers changed and they left the drian plug out with no oil in her Saturn. Never Again.

Get the DTC befor making any assumptions as to what is wrong. Just a side note, any time a CEL is triggered your VSC/TRAC lights also come on.
