What the ... Rust!!??
So I was outside with the spray detailer doing a little touch up on the box when I noticed... RUST. I have a tiny spot about the size if a pencil point coming up under the clearcoat. Its on the rear hatch up by the washer nozzle about 3 inches to the left of it. It is clearly coming up under the clearcoat there is no bump or bubble that I can feel yet and no hole in the paint there. My box is a '06.5 that I got in September of '06 I paid extra $ for an extended warranty too. Has anyone else had any rust problems and has the dealer delt with them?
Try using a dremel to remove the rust and fill it in with touch up paint. I had a very small spot (pencil tip size) on the roof that I took care of with this method and haven't had any problems. It's been about a year now. Just be very careful if you do this!
The warranty is for rust through and not rust spots. That being said, some posters have indicated that they got Toyota to fix their problems. Bottom line--it does not hurt to ask...........
I use a combo of water and the spray on stuff. Wash w/ water once every 2 weeks or so and then mantain w/ the spray on wipe off stuff. I am going to see the dealer tomorrow to see what they say. Otherwise I will just fix it w/ touch up. I will let you guys know what the dealer says.

Seems odd that some of ya'll actually AVOID (?!) water for cleaning your ride. I mean...it's water, not slat water. Surely these new cars can withstand water! If not, I'll be going back to driving 40 year old American tin, full time.
I WILL say this, though...the paint is seeming more than a little too thin on the front of my xB. Kinda bums me out. Luckily I have plans for a new paint scheme.
