Default Why must people insult?

Explain this one to me, I'm driving down the road, and I pull into a median turning lane, and this van behind me shouts in my windows as he pulls past, man get that piece of junk out of the road.

Why do people refer to a car that gets great gas milage, awesome reliability and made by a major manifacture, junk?

I hear it all the time. People telling me my car is a piece but not being able to explain why.

I think, most of the time, comments like these stem from ignorance and/or jealousy. Just ignore them.

Ignorance is the reason why. Just laugh at them.

Oh I do, usually I leave them with my parting gift of a bird. I just find it funny. Then again they are driving around that 98 Honda Civic with the VTEC and bomb exhaust they got for thier birthday. ROFL

I don't think jealousy or envy have anything to do with it. Most people need to compensate for their small roosters by driving big, jacked up trucks and making fun of cool, small, effecient cars. Just laugh at that fact that as they tear @$$ of the line they are racing home to an unsatisfied woman...or no woman at all.

I don't think it's envy either. Some people are just born to make life miserable for others and this includes themselves! They over indulge and pile up debt and then blame everyone else when they get in their way, and sometimes the BOX is directly in their way on the road. Don't even give them the time of day, becuase they are already in a world of hurt and headed for bancruptcy. I either just laugh or show no emotion at all when someone tries to mess with me and my own good time behind the wheel.

I have not had anyone say anything bad on the road to me, but in the South maybe we are more tolerant? I've gotten waves and honks from people liking the box.

It comes down to the fact that they dont have the equptement to go out and by a car like ours and still face any ridcule they may recive so they feel the need to yell at us for it. Some jacked up Ford got out driven by me and felt the need to follow me off the freeway and start yelling at me for passing him. I told him he was jelous that I dont have to stop for gas every time I get ove Eighty miles an hour

Most often times, it's usually comments from ignorant in-breds. They've been driving Fords or Chevys their whole life because it's American-made quality. Too bad they don't realize (ignorance) there's quite a bit of foreign parts in "American-Made" vehicles. And have you looked at quality, reliability, fit & finish? I promise you that ignorant in-bred has replaced many more parts in his vehicle than we Toyota owners ever will. Sorry for the rant, but I live in Wisconsin and deal with this on a regular basis.

The Xb looks diffrent so it cannot be American made, that means it's a POS.
20+ years ago it was the same way when I drove a VW Beetle and those had already been around for decades. When I remind my UAW friends my box didn't go down in value when I drove it off the dealer lot, discussion time is over!

It's the redneck mentality. You have to remember that many, if not most, people in the USA are poorly educated and have little sense of manners or decency. American-made quality is a bit of an oxymoron when it comes to automobiles.

I had an old lady about 70 or so shake her fist and yell at me "by american".
