Is it just me or does it seem like the xB is waay more popular than the xA? The features and stats on both cars are the same, the price on the xA is better, (in my opinion) the xB's shape is less attractive than the xA's. Overall I think the xA is better... So why does it seem like everyone wants a xB an not an xA. Is it because the U.S. has never seen anythin remoteley like it before or is my taste in cars just much different then everyone elses....

(I know this is a stupid quetion becuase it's all based on opinion.)

because the xB is sexy... nah but i think everyone that has an xB likes it cuz its different from most cars out there... the xA (sorry xA owners) looks like a mini-matrix and about any other hb's that are out... i didnt like the xA's at first but the more i look at one the more sexy it looks...

 

Cuz pistachio has a flavorful vibe to it while vannila is just ordinary and generic/default.

But really, IMO the xA would be more popular if it was a 3-door hatch instead of 5. People not concerned with family and cargo room get sporty 2 door vehicles. Just look at the Focus: there are more ZX3s on the road than ZX5's

 

Well, first take note that I bought an xA. . . but I think the reason people go for the xB, is that it is a LOT more practical. The xA is a great car, on it's own. But face it, people who buy Scion's aren't looking for speed or handling. The majority are looking for a practical car (ie Toyota). In fact, I'd be willing to be that most of the sales are from people popping into showrooms to look at other models, and then get sidetracked by the xB. Not many people are really aware or these things. But anyway, the xB has a lot more useful space, and is more practical than the xA in almost every regard. I think that is why it sells better. . . if it weren't for the xB existing at all, the xA's would probably sell better.

Yes yes, many will probably disagree with me, but we are a niche. . . we don't make up 90% of the buyers. We are scion fanatics, and don't really count.

 

It could be the common fallacy that more expensive product means better quality product. But probably not.

 

I don't think that has anything to do with it. They are essentially the same product, except one requires a bit more in materials, justifying the cost difference.

The xA is the more conservative version of the xB, and in doing so, it pays a price in utility. The xB is far out, and by the nature of its design, reaps the maximum utility. Those who question why xB's outsell an xA have probably never sat inside an xB.

 

The xB has more functionality than the xA. Besides that it's a simple choice between a box or an egg

I would have seriously gotten an xB. But one look at the styling cues of the xA like the fender flares and short nose I knew that this was my car! :D

 

I agree. The xB is different than any other car out there and more people go for it IMO. I like the xA but it is too similar in style with tons of cars that are already out there on the road.

 

I wanted the xA originally. But the kids were cramped in the back seat especially when the baby seat was back there.

 

The dealer explained the xA to me as a mini matrix with an echo engine, and because of that it seemed as if it was a newer generation model, and not a whole new model. Where as the xB has the likeness of no other car to the majority of the public. I went with the xA ( sad but true story ) because at the time my BMW didnt last the jump i took her off and wanted a NEW car. I had an X-Mod with EVERY upgrade and was looking at a car that could be as interchangable as an x-mod, yet affordable. My dad came back from an auto show with a keychain and a picture of the xA with LJ Garcia Bodykit. A month later i was in the car, and a year later i got the kit and made it to fit my likeness.

 

I have both; I got the Box first, because it was more, well, me.

But the xA has it reasons to be loved. It's not quite the same as all the other cars out there...and it has, I would say, VW Golf/New Beetle like ways about it...at least to me.

I think I will always prefer to drive the xB, but I am not ashamed to drive around the xA either.

Also, the xB is a relatively unique product. Nobody else makes a vehicle with the utility of the xB. You can buy 5-door subcompact "blob cars" from several manufacturers, so the xA just isn't as unique.

 

i would have to say because of the body, its a box, what more can i say. Its different & thats what people want over the norm.

 

Exactly, there are a lot of hatchbacks on the market....... Focus, Matrix, Civic, Mazda 3, Vibe, etc....

At the meets out here we are lucky to have 1 or 2 xA's.......

 

Yeah I agree too. There's tons of compact hatchbacks on the road and have been for many years now.

 

compare the xB to the: element, ummmm........ and see the ups of the xB?.....not to mention the looks....

compare the xA to the : vibe/matrix, prius, echo, pt cruiser, fucus zx5, protege5, tarus wagon, whatever.......see the similarities??? the xA doesn't pop enough for the targeted range of these other cars......


I own a tC......i Love the xB.....and the modified xA's are growning on me....but stock, the xA blows!!!

Yeah I did! I really bought it because I needed a daily driver to drive back and forth to school and keep the miles off my truck. Plus my truck is almost always under construction due to mods so the xB helps out a lot.
