Why is xB more Pop. than xA?
I got the xB because I needed the extra room and I loved the looks. My car before the xB was a 02 Civic Si. Now that's what I call an egg shaped car!!! The xA actually reminded me of my Si when I first saw them. I like all the Scions and I think it is great that each one fills it's own particular niche in the market.
At first I wanted an xB, but looking at the xA I thought that it would look really nice after pimping it out. Plus, by being the xA out numbered by the xB that would make it more special.
Well, I like cars that not everyone has. So far since buying my xA about 8 or 9 months ago I have seen TWO other xAs on the road. One in Detroit, and one in Lansing. I have seen 20+ xBs, and roughly the same tCs. So, while it might suck that the xA might not be as popular, I am happy that it isn't. I think it looks sleeker, and I can get a ton of stuff in it. One HUGE reason I like the xA over the tC is that the xA really has no (or little) modification potential...and if there is any, the cost to result ratio is VERY high. I know this will be the first car I have EVER owned that I can keep a warranty on LOL
I never notice xA's or tC's in traffic because they look like everything else in the sea of sameness. But the xB, it sticks out from everything else. It is something different in the sea of sameness. Which is why I got the xB, and probably why most others did too. Theres nothing wrong with the xA or tC, but to me they are too boring and plain looking.
I think people choose XB more because XB drivers happy people! I always smile and wave from my "mini yellow" school bus when people stare at my car! I also wave to other XB drives too! Yellow is a happy color. It's like I won the lottery when I got this car! XA are small to me and I'm under 5ft. I hate to admit that but my big tank is easy to get into and backseat drivers are not cramped. The best part is people usually slow down next to me to see if there's a driver since my head is shorter than the head rest! LOVE IT!

I guess I like em both because each has its pros and cons (1 has storage space, other has sleekness) but I prefer the xA becuase I personaly don't like the boxieness...although seeing so many, im groing fonder them every day. Im only like 5'4 or 5'6ish and the xA didn't feel cramped to me at all when I sat in it at the auto show. Infact one of the reasons I like the xA is because I dont look tiny in comparison, lol. I dont really need the extra storage space because I don't haul anything bigger than my back pack, maybe some groceries, and a few friends every ounce in a while. I haven't test driven either but i'm goin to on Monday so I guess that will make the final decison. Now I have to make the decison of manual or automatic. I think I want manual but this will be the first manual car I've driven so I don't know if i'll like it.... This is probably a REALLY dumb question (and I mean really) but is it possible to accidently swich into reverse instead of 5th gear or has this been though out somehow that it won't let you?
^^^ Get the manual. It's seriously so much more fun to drive with one since you can extract every little bit of power from the mini sized power plant.
And no, you can't go from 5th to reverse unless you intentionally did it (needs quite a bit of force) and even then you'll just grind your gears and not actually hit reverse.

I can't think of an easier car to learn manual than the xA. The clutch is very soft and easy to get the feel of. The throttle is pretty responsive so it's pretty hard to stall unless you fully let go of the clutch. Drive it around a few quiet streets for an hour and you'll get it down in no time.
My advice, first get use to the clutch. On an clear street, slightly let go of the clutch to the point the car moves forward a bit. That point in your clutch is the engage point. Get a feel for it and burn it in your memory!
