Default windshield chip today...ARGH

While driving down a major highway today doing about 70 and SMACK!!!I heard something hit my windshield. An 18 wheeler had pulled in front of me to pass another 18 wheeler and threw something up from his rear tires.Anyways it left a very noticable chip right above the speedo about the size of a pea.Damn, only had the xB a month now,I guess you could say it's broken in

Anybody have a good method on getting this fixed?I have heard of chips being repaired before, can you still tell it's there after it's fixed?

Do it sooner rather than later. If it starts to spread, you're hosed.

Welcome to the club, BTW. I've got 3 different chips and numerous pits.

yea same here im in the chip club. i had insurance do it for free a day after. it goes quick and they fill it in. as long as you catch it early its not very noticeable. if you wait though, it could spread and crack out and it will really be noticeable. mine was about the size of the pea and now repaired it looks like a small bug hit it and it takes work to look for it. so just get it taken care of and its no prob

Yah about a month ago I drive from san diego to LA and a rock hit my windshield... I didn't notice it until the the next day when i saw a little crack just under my windshield wiper.....not knowing it would spread the following day it must have grown at least 6 inches more. If I would have done something early I would have stopped it....now its to late Im gonna have to replace my whole windshield.... Yah I got a quote from allstar glass and they said its gonna cost 371 bills!!!!!!!! dam!!!! Anybody know a cheaper place here in San Diego that can replace my windshield?

thnks

I have one at the bottom of my windshield by the windshield wiper. The glas company that I deal with injected a solution to keep it from spreading. They only do it if the crack or chip is smaller than the size of a quarter. Sometimes you can't see it at all after they finish, but I wasn't that lucky. At least it's not spreading, you really have to look for it to see it. I'll see how it holds up after it starts freezing and thawing this winter.
