Hmmm... One of my co-workers was just talking about this. She said she's on her THIRD windshield. I think I'll tell her about this.

I've spoken to one of my fellow Canadian owners and he says he's on his 8th winshield since he bought it in 06. Luckily he got windshield insurance right away so he hasn't had to pay but this whole situation reeks. I'm gonna have to replace mine here shortly, roughly $300. If Toyota's hiding something, I'd sure as hell like to find out about it.

Oh, here's the link from the other thread about the lawsuit, for you US folk

That website suggest that FJ cruisers, 1st-gens, and 2nd-gens all have the SAME "faulty" windshields. You don't find that a little unlikely?

Soooooooooo these lawyers are saying that Toyota put the same "faulty" windshields (or made the same design flaw) in THREE different designs, of vehicles that share no common elements and in fact aren't even manufactured at the same factory? But somehow managed to avoid those design flaws / windshields into any of its thousands of other cars? And it's just coincidence that these three vehicles have steeply-raked windshields?

I'll tell you what reeks: those lawyers trying to convince anything that this case actually has a chance of winning. Don't waste your time.

I'm going to go ahead and call bullsh!t on this one. Allow me to tell you what a judge would tell you: a rock hitting a vertical windshield exerts more force than one hitting an angled windshield. And just because you didn't see a rock doesn't mean there was none.

I'm NOT saying there isn't a possible defect. But nothing I've ever seen thus far suggests that. I have said and and I will CONTINUE to say it: find a university professor who specializes in glass fractures, pay him $900 to whip out his microscope and tell you if it was a rock chip or a stress crack, and let's all get on with our lives.

If you want to vent, that's fine. If you want to sue, great - do it the correct way. If not...this is all just noise.

Obviously... the box windshield is almost 90 degree that makes easy to crack even with a small impact....

My box was hit by a rock(wife was driving) the impact point was so small, you couldnt even put the point of a ball point pen in it. It cracked within 24 hours and spread like wildfire. I had my Element in Anchorage and got hit and chipped quite a bit but never a crack. In Anchorage...extreme cold. After I traded my element in I got a letter from Honda for window repair reimbursement(if I were to have gotten it repaired). I live in the bay area with my box and the weather is mild at best in comparrison. My window cracked like cheap plastic sliverware. My replacements been holding up...knock on wood. Toyota needs to step up and do the right thing. They can talk all they want about being number one to me this kind of issue is what sepparates Honda from Toyota. Honda is #1

The lawsuit is still in progress. These things take time. Especially when it is against a multi-billion dollar company like Toyota.

My windshield is cracked with one of the stress cracks the lawsuit is trying to address. I have yet to replace it waiting on an outcome. There is no star, or rock chip, or apparent reason why the glass cracked at this point. This was pointed out some years ago at my dealer, who quickly shuffled me on and out the door with the answer that a rock MUST have hit it. Even then, these windshield do crack a lot, and prematurely.

We shall see what happens, and I hope it is in all our favor and Toyota finally says the glass is weak.

I'll post when I hear something.

Had my windshield magically crack while parked in the driveway from the bottom center up. When the shop replaced the glass they told me that their company had a bulletin out about Scion xb windshields crack very easily and that it was a problem.

^^^^^^^
That's just about what happened to me.

Let me guess. That crack that stared at the center, probably kind of curved up and over to the "A" pillar (windshield frame), kind like an upside down L, huh ?

You should have went right to the dealer like I did, then you'd be in the class action suit too !

Got my '06 xB last month, and got a small chip in the lower left side over the weekend by a rock. Someone's coming today to fill it in, covered by insurance.

Hope that's all I get...

They came today at work. He said it was too bad it wasn't bigger actually, he could do the "drill and pump" to fill it in. He ended up just filling the top over with a coating I think, to keep it from spreading. Still see it, but it's to the side.

He said they knew all about bad Scion windshields, and he had just replaced one during the car show here recently.

Have 30,000 on mine and no problems yet, thank goodness. Just your typical chips throughout.
