I didn't read it here yet, but considering the steap angle of your windshield(not so sure what angle its at relative to your hood and/or roof, but looks like its between 55-75 degrees. Considering that hard angle, that is potentially one of the big culprets of why some of you guys/gals have so many chips/cracks, etc.
Just an observation.

WOW, over 139,000 miles on my "05" Camo xB.

Still rolling with the factory windsheild, with 5 - 6 rock chips and tons of pit marks.
No cracks, yet.
Watching and waiting.

150K miles and on my third windshield. I never took it to a Toyota dealer though. I wonder if I can get in on the action?

Yeah, most probably "we can let this go."

After more than a year, I have heard nothing of the original lawsuit.

Here is what I know from the paperwork I received in September 2008.

"In July 2007, a class-action lawsuit was filed in California, in which the plaintiff alleges, among other things, that the windshields on 2004-2006 model-year Scion's xBs are defective and have a inordinate propensity to crack. The name of the case is Bauer v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., and the Los Angeles County Superior Court Case number is BC 374017."

Since this thread was bumped for updates, I tried e-mailing the lawyers in this case for any updates. They never wrote me back. They are:

Rosenthal & Company LLC
PO Box 6177
Novato, CA 94948-6177

That's all I know. Maybe someone here is better at finding out information about this than I am. I tried looking up the case at the Superior Court website with no luck. So far, my glass cracked on my xB, with no warning, back in '07 and I have been waiting all this time hoping to be a part of this case.

Oh well, just my luck. I guess I'll just get my windshield replaced, and if I hear anything, I'll post it.

Seem that anyone that went to the Toyota dealer and took their car in for a windshield crack that seemed to come from nowhere, it part of the lawsuit. The plaintiffs (Bauer) lawyers made
Toyota give the names and address of anyone who came in complaining of cracks.

From what I understand the paperwork to read, Toyota took your name and address and phone number from the list and only supplied the number of people and their location due to a privacy concern.

The paperwork is an authorization for Toyota to release your complete name, address, and phone to the lawyers so that they may contact you. Which I plan to do !!

This is great news!!! Finally something may be done about our cracking windshield problem!!

My story:
About 2 years ago I was just driving along (the only one on the road) and my windshield cracked right before my eyes. I took it in to the dealer and they checked it out. The service manager came back with a magnifying glass and said a rock hit the windshield and caused it to crack. He then showed me this little nick that was not visible to the naked eye and you could only see it under the magnifying glass. After he did this I knew he was a liar and I was beat. Now with this lawsuit, maybe he will finally get his.

Thank you Bauer........ whoever you are.

Cool if only they would do something about the Defective paint job...

I really don't care how this brand rates,I am aware that Toyota/Scion is suppose to be the SH** however if the Quality is BS then it is what it is....I never had any issues with the Quality of a Honda!!! I am about to spend 6K to fix their imperfections, they should never skimp on Quality...By the way I have owned numerous makes and never had any issue with them like I have with this F***** UP SCION.

My car is not even 2 moths old and has under 800 miles and the paint is peeling...WTF!!!

my factory windshield cracked for no reason, one day i was driving down the road, only car on the road, and boom...a 2 foot crack appeared out of nowhere, i figured it was from it being extremely hot outside and having the ac on.

so i got my windshield replaced by safelite, 6 days later i had a chip in it, 2 weeks after that i got another chip in it...now the two chips have a tiny line connecting the dots. i think safelite glass is cheap.

just rolled 36,000 miles and i am about to get my third windshield.

You would think that Scion could at least use Quality parts however its all about the bottom line$$$$ Never had a problem with my Chevrolet Chevette and it cost less!!!! Scion get a clue...The paint job is DEFECTIVE!!!

the chevette was also made between 76-87 when the average car price was $7,200 and now a days (25 to 30 years later) the average car price is closing on $25,000, back in the early 80's the xB would have probably been a $5,000 car also.

The only reason I used this particular model "CHEVETTE" as an example was in reference to how the paint job held up, I am quite aware of the monetary value of vehicles cost then to present, the only complaint I have is the paint job on my 2010 SUCKS BAL** and I shouldn't have to pay a shop to wet sand and apply a good Quality clear coat.

CrazyHorse, I've gathered from your postings that your paint job is peeling. So did you file a warranty complaint, or what? Because I have never - literally, never - seen another Scion owner with paint that is actually peeling after two months. That's called a defect.

So is it actually peeling, or does it not meet your inspection? Please post photos of exactly what is happening.

Also: would you let it go about Honda, please? There's just as many Hondas up there as Toyotas. And um don't know if you're aware of this but the Element actually DID have a defective windshield. You know, the lawsuit that actually went somewhere?

Also: it IS about the bottom line, i.e. you bought a <$20,000 car. If you'd purchased a fit (for an extra few thousand dollars), I'm sure nothing would go wrong ever. But a cheap car means cheap glass and cheap paint.

Also: $6000 for a clear coat? Really? Really?
