Me too. I don't know another car I'd rather drive.

I'll hear from the insurance company on Monday.
There are still 55 remaining new 1st gen XBs out there. Even so, I'd rather take a used XB than one that has been Frankenstiened.

After the moment of silence, let her rest in peace.

its totalled, badly, even if the motor weren't shoved back it would have been totalled, I've seen them get totalled for bumper, fenders, hood, radiator and core support, at 14k you need just over 9k to total it

Sad to see an xB hurt, especially when it's terminal.

It did it's best in protecting you and your passenger - glad you came through in decent shape.

*moment of silence*

Hope your insurance takes care of you properly.

yea on the aftermarket stuff, you pretty much have to have special insurance to have it all covered because most insurance companies won't cover it, not if the accident is your fault

So what I'm thinking is I can pick up a 06.5 used xB with around 8k miles (same as current) for $14-15k, and with GAP I'll get around $17k for my car (with extended warranty, etc.). That leaves about $1-2k to transfer my ICE stuff from the wrecked xB to the new xB. The interior is in great shape, so most of my $2k+ mods can be removed and reinstalled.

I've already found a few boxes in STL meeting that price, so as soon as the car is "pronounced dead" I'll be moving toward purchasing a new-to-me box.

I was looking at thelastxb.com site yesterday, and I'm surprised there is one 5 hours away in Chicago, but I think paying a few grand less for a used low-mileage box would make more sense so I can pay to have my stuff reinstalled. Lots of wiring, amp racks, etc. I have are tailor-made for an xB, would make sense to put it all back in.

Now I'll need a new white ScionLife decal I'll have to see if my local sign shop can print one from the vector file floating around here.

Default Wheel Uninstall

Need advice: I have TRD springs installed. Could a dealer remove the 3 good springs and reorder the left front spring? I'm thinking ordering both front springs to keep it even. Is any of that even possible? I paid a about $1000 for springs + install by a Toyota dealer.

I also have OTG spacers, will need a friend of mine to take off the wheels and remove the spacers too. He might also be able to tear those rear springs off and put them on my new car if a dealer can't.

I have my stock steelies in my garage, while my car situation is getting worked out I'm going to paint the steelies I have and eventually get the OTG spacers, TRD springs, and my painted steelies put on my next box. I would have had to switch out my 18s for steelies soon anyway for the winter...

why don't you get the wheels off of the box before its sent away? swap the steelies back on take everything you had added or added yourself off

I see the front two wheels are f'ed, you could still take the two good ones off, and swap them with two of the steelies, and probably sell those two good wheels and tires on ebay to get a bit of the lost expense back, people will buy 1 or 2 wheels to replace the one(s) they've destroyed

Hmm, well, might do that then, only left front wheel is f'ed, all others are ok but FedEx damaged them a bit cosmetically before I installed them. May not be fit for resale, and may not be very many buyers because they aren't common... might try anyway...

I'd really like my springs back though...

I'm already finding a few boxes in STL online, though it will be a few days before I start seriously looking.

You really shouldnt replace only one spring. It would be like replacing one tire, when the other 3 are worn. About replacing them in pairs, i would do that either. You may get a different ride from front to back. You may have to just bite the bullet and get a new set, or keep an eye out here and snag a used set, but at least keep it to a set and not replace one or 2 springs.

Eh, thought so. I'll take a $600 hit on that. Car was declared totaled today.

I'm considering the new xB, because getting a used xB means a higher interest rate, and used xB1s are only available hundreds of miles away from where I live. Plus it costs about the same as a new xB1 after haggling with around 10k miles on it already!

Not sure how I feel about that yet.

Well, I have to settle on something before I lose my rental car. Hopefully one will come in before then, but that's only less than a week away. Dealer says they might get an xB next week, but it'll be an '05 clocking in at 52k miles. (No more steering wheel controls, too.) No idea on color, or even if it'll really come in.

The only feature that the xB2 has that I'm really interested in is the extra airbags and better side crash ratings, which is of more concern to me now than before... but I don't really like the look of the new one as much. It's nice, I'd drive it, but I like the old style better.

Bad timing, I'd say.
