You can be in denial all you want...it doesn't change the facts.

FACT: they are valued higher than retail by the 2 most reputable, respected resources in the industry.

FACT: More than 60% of all used 2005 and 2006 Scion xBs in the US with 20,000 miles or less are listed for over MSRP (source: cars.com).

Oh, and just to assure that kbb isn't inflating the value of ALL cars, I chose to run a 'control' value - a 2004 Corvette Z06 - a car that one would EXPECT to retain significant resale value, if not GAIN value (limited edition, "high end" cars often do).

2004 Corvette Z06 MSRP - $51,585 (assuming that when someone bought it, someone didn't pay WELL OVER MSRP, as is the case with Z06's most of the time)

2004 Corvette Z06 value right now, with lower-than-average mileage (18K) - $42,795

So you see, kbb isn't just assigning higher values to ALL cars...they don't even assign a higher value to a car you'd EXPECT.

It's about gas prices...combined with Toyota's already high resale value. I say that last part because I don't EVER expect to see any American econo-box go up in value.
Your facts are skewed... First off GM blew out the prices on the 04's when the 05 vettes were introduced. I paid less than the price you listed for my Z06 brand new.... The right place at the right time...
Anyone who wants to buy a used Scion is going to know the price of a new one. Trust me on this... I just went thru it. I priced my xB at similar prices to those shown above and got ZERO calls. Its wishful thinking on the sellers price. I drove my scion for 1.5 years and it only cost me $1k to do so.... thats pretty cheap for sure.... but my Z06 is still worth more than I paid for it over 2 years ago...

You got lucky...you said it yourself...but you're missing the point.

I don't give a flying fark what YOU paid for it...it doesn't change the FACT that the Z06 has lost value from MSRP according to the same resource that puts the xB's value well ABOVE its original MSRP.

That is the only point I'm trying to get you to wrap your brain around.

You are not arguing against some random opinion that I decided to post - you are arguing established, illustrated FACTS that have been verified by others in this thread, by their own research.

Why must you be the quintessential negative-nelly on this forum? Seller's remorse?

Has anyone traded in actually gotten that high of an ammount for their xB?

Those are not trade-in values...those are retail values. Big difference.

Trade-in value is $13K...which is still quite respectable.

Thats the real question... Resale will be strong.. but its not near any of the ads you see posted here. Most would like to believe that... but its just not so..

I had several people send me PM on here asking me what I got for my xB. They also are having problems selling theirs at the inflated prices being posted...

So go ahead and trade it in... You can get a new one and cash back for your old scion....! Thats whats being said here.... Too funny..

I didn't even notice that was resale value.. I thought it was trade-in.

I have an '05 tC with 25k miles and the car is worth $800 less then I owe on it. That's pretty damn good considering I didn't put anything down and you normally lose the most ammount of money in the first year.

Gotta love toyota's resale value.

I suppose I should have taken your advice many posts ago, considering you're the only idiot arguing with the simple facts posted here.

Yeah man.

Try to find a compact made by Chevy that increases in value EVER...won't happen.

This whole situation is quite anomalous...even I'll admit that...but it's still true, and enough reason for me to smile when I see gas stay above $3/gallon.

It's true. Here's proof.

The guy at my local dealer offered to take my 2004 xB (with 37,000 miles) as an EVEN trade for a new '07 Yaris. I passed, but the fact was he knew that he could sell my used box for closer to $15-16k, rather than the new Yaris which stickered for $13k.

Cool man...maybe when gas hits $4 they'll be offering you an even trade on a 4-runner.

I was quite the lucky one..

I found a 2004 Scion xB at a used dealer 30 minutes outside of Dallas. He hadn't shown the car to anyone for 5 months while it was on the lot (they have about 450 used cars) beacuse they didn't think anyone would want it.

I went to check out the car (sticker of $15,100), took it to the Scion dealer, got it inspected by them to make sure it was all good. It had one scratch on the top of the bumper where it looked like a suitcase had hit it.

I told the dealer I couldn't pay that much (I really couldn't) so he came back with $13,100 and I ended up buying the sucker for $12,200...
