Default xB Clutch..

I looked up adjusting the clutch on the forums already so I have seen what to look for.

The question I have is that my clutch as seamed to get "soft" and seems to engage higher then it did before.
When I say soft I mean when the pedal is fully released (even quickly) it doesn't seem to grab like it used to.

Is this an adjustment that is needed or is something going bad?

P.S. I haven't tried the adjustment yet (I barely found it today on the website).

your clutch is weak by design.. toyota sucked on this one. i suggest you take it to the dealer before 10K miles or they won't give two shakes about you..

I have the TRD clutch and pressure plate. I don't remember much about the standard one, except it felt like warm boogers.

feels mushy? Have you tried bleeding the slave cylinder? Also check the clutch fluid resivour to see that you have enough brake fluid in there.

I wasn't aware that there was a place where you put fluid for the clutch.

Should that level be check at the dealer with an oil change?

/\/\ I haven't even taken real note of under the hood on my xB, but yes, there should be a very small cylinder shaped tank with a cap that holds brake fluid for our hydralic clutch setup.

*And it should be to the right of the brake master cylinder*

hhhmmmm

I'll check it out. I still think that the dealer in there "20 point inspection" should have caught that.

I guess you don't get real service with free oil changes

Isn't the tranny covered for 5 years/60,000 miles?
This would include all clutch adjustments.

If the clutch seems soft, it probably just needs adjustment.
If you are burning out your clutch by either holding back and feeding gas at the same time, this would not be covered.

As long as you are driving responsibly all the work needed to fix this problem will be covered.

Over time clutches do lose some of their tension, but a "soft clutch" is unacceptable.
Have your dealer fix this one.

The TRD clutch retails for $328.00 and is on sale for $268.00 on our site.

you would have to check with your local shops or your local dealer for the labor in your area.

ok i seem to have the same thing, i notice it when pulling out onto a busy 65mph road, where you need to run the Rs high and shift quickly, it seems to slip rather than grab..... some days it's ok, some its really bad..... its all bc the pressure plate is so soft, hints why you can compress the clutch w/ 2 fingers.... stiffer pressure plate (TRD) will allow for more "bite" when released... but as for grabbing ok one day and not so good another, if alot of abuse, can almost "glaze" the clutch, make the plates smooth and hard tobite.... or lots of heat (slipping) can cause the same thing.... think of a clutch as a brakepad.....
