Eventually I just let go of the gas a little to slow things down...what do you guys do?

 

i have noticed that. there is something about our car that make people act like there is no way they are gonna drive behind THAT thing. they will pass us no matter what. i gave up on trying to just pick up the speed a little so i just hang in the right or middle lane and get 35mpg instead :-)

 

It probably doesn't help that the back of the car is a straight vertical drop. No trunk area to provide a buffer. At stop lights they kind of just move right on up, plant themselves right into our butts haha.

 

Thought I was the only one who had this problem. Cars do tend to tailgate because there is no trunk to keep them back. After a while though I just learned to ignore it and get the most out of my fun miles per gallon. (FMPG)

 

yeah they do that to me too. get real close. if your headlights are gone, your to close! we should all do the "super-soaker" mod. that will keep them at bay! haha

 

Yeah and trucks that are higher up shoot their high beams right in your eyes.

It's also fun to surprise them and lose tailgaters through a few turns. The xB can hang pretty well.

 

all i do is unsuspectedly tap the break to startle them a bit.. it usually gets them off my back. then when they try to get around me i just speed up and they end up right behind me again hahahaha

 

I am sick of impotent men in their trucks, SUVs, mustangs, whatever who feel it necessary to race me because how dare I get good mileage and get there before them too.

(Yes, I am a guy but women seem to not be negatively effected by the coolness of the xB)

 

I just think to myself that if someone's tailgating me, I'm getting slightly better fuel efficiency, So I don't worry about it too much.

Plus, I've got an Evolve Fish sticker, and one that say, "I'm too poor to vote Republican," which are both good for irritating people in this backwoods hickhole that I live in. I think that gets me tailgated more.

 

I found out one of the things that help is I have Super Bright Anzo LED Tail lights.
In my rear view I see some get startled and with my 5/% limo rear tint they can't
see me and those LEDs are really bright during the day and even more so at night.
In fact, since I got rid of the stock tails. I actually have had more cars actually
back off of me and look away off to the side when at stop lights.

I have had more acceptance of the Box from women who have told me the car is Cute.
The flip side of that is when I drive in the fast lane of the freeway nowdays,
I now noticed the big SUV or truck bearing down on me is sometimes a women.
Some women are more aggressive drivers now when they are behind a truck.
Soccer Moms? Cowgirls?

First off Happy B-Day Shan14. Just Yesterday i was driving on the street just cruisig doing the speed limit (30MPH) and this dumb f*ck in this jeep nearly rear-ended me three times a 3 seperate lights. It definitely seems that our cars really do attract tailgaters. there have been a few times where i thought about break checking people but then remember if they hit me my car is screwed. I would just never be able to deal with me causing the damage to my xB.

i turned the rear wiper nozzle upside down so it sprays upwards and towards the back of my box. when ppl tailgate me, i spray them and they back off like they're never gona do that again! l0l0l00l0l0l

recently, on the 59th street bridge, there was some dude tailing me in a newly-washed range rover, and i sprayed him and he backed off, probably to like half the speed i was doing! hahahahaha!

just blow them a kiss. and then be ready to kick some butt or laugh like hell.

 

yea and get a nice fat dent kicked into the side of your car next time they see it. people dont take kindly to you squirting windshield wiper fluid at them. no matter how wrong they are for tailgating you, you are looking for vandalism by doing this back.

 

If they do it while driving I just let off the gas. If they do it at a stop light I let of the brake and start to roll backwards toward them. Stop light option only realy works if your xB is a manual.

 

Yep....I speed up a whole bunch before sharp curves cause the xB takes them with no problem. It's funny to watch most other vehicles in the rear view when they are matching your speed in the curves...

 

You are saying you have to be Christian and rich to vote Republican? Funny...I am neither and I would have voted Republican for Ron Paul.

If they tailgate me while I am driving I slow down without using my brake. If it happens at a red light to the point that it annoys me when the light turns green I just sit there for a little while.

 

Just do me a favor. Dont get one of those license plates that says "if you are going to ride my a$$, at least pull my hair". Doesnt sound too good. Do what my friend did. flip your rear windshield squirters upsidedown and the next time someone is tailing you whip it up. There ride can get a small shower until they back off. Since I have a wing now, I result to the So Cal 1 finger wave. lol.

 

I have the squirter mod and I have the tank filled with plain water. I don't get to use it much cuz I have a lead foot.
