xB gas gauge problem
my gas gauge appears to be displaying the fluid amount incorrectly. it states that it is half empty/half full...and yet when I fill it up, only about 3-4 gallons will go in...which is really inaccurate...
could it be a sensor?
anyone else have this problem on their xB?
is this a costly fix?

When it's full where does the needle sit on the display? If it doesn't go up over the F without touching, you may need to reposition it a bit higher. Sounds like it's not off that much anyways. At half mark mine usually takes only 5 gals. anyway.

I am a new owner of a 2008 XD. I have had it for a month, and the gas gauge has started misreading. When I saw that it showed I had 7 miles to empty, I decided to gas up on the way to lunch. I park on a level street at work, and when I started it up to go get gas, it now read 0 miles to empty.
I filled up and the pump stopped at 10.1 gallons. That means there was exactly 1 gallon left in the tank, which holds 11.1 gallons according to the manual, and which should equal about 34 miles til empty.
If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know. The Toyota dealer is unaware of this problem, and I don't want them taking the gas tank apart if this is an easy fix.
Thanks!

Did you never hear about NEVER allowing your tank to drop below 1/4 tank?
It's the quickest way to cut your fuel pump life in half. Fuel keeps the pump cool and lubricated.

I'd rather gas up when it's convenient instead of when I absolutely have to. Not to mention the prices- never know when the price may jump or if you're running low and happen to be in an area where gas is much more expensive. My 10 mile commute takes me past several gas stations where the prices have varied by up to $0.20/gallon between stations and change regularly between morning and evening.

I don't understand why any car would be manufactured to have damage to the fuel reading equipment if you run low on fuel. That is ridiculous. Many of us cannot afford to stop at the pump every 1/2 tank. SOME OF US ARE MAKING CAR PAYMENTS AND HAVE A BUDGET.

Has nothing to do with "fuel reading equipment" Wendy. It's the FUEL PUMP that is being damaged. Without it the car won't run period.
If you want to be lazy and wait the extra 40 miles till the light comes on then fine. It's not my car being F'd up.
Don't blame Scion when the pump goes out right after the warranty ends either.
