Default xB potential buyer

i been checking out both xA and xB posts on this forum and edmunds.com. i am leaning toward xB at this moment (also the 2006 re designed civic). Since i am not in a hurry to buy, earliest purchase date is summer 2005. I hope Scion can address some of the issues i have with XB.

i love the xB because it's big interior, but is the back (with back seat down) big enough to put in two bikes? (I only seen xB in real life for 10 seconds at Canada last summer, since i live in Manhattan).

my main concern is lack of side airbag. As xB have a high center of gravity, i worry a side impact accident would cause it to flip, lack of side airbag is really a life and death issue to me.
I don't think 2006 cars will be equipped with side airbags.

Last the weak A/C, hopefully this issue is been fixed at this moment.

Apparantely... this xB has been rolled over. It should be reassuring to see.

The xB actually has a low center of gravity. At 2400lbs it would be hard to roll. There is a TSB for the A/C that does help. I doubt two bikes would fit but Thule does make a roof rack for the xB.

The A/C TSB is for older xA's and xB's. I bought my xB in March and it's VIN is higher than the ones listed in the TSB. Here is the relevant text of the A/C TSB:

Some Scion xA and xB owners may feel that the A/C system does not blow cold
enough air. This procedure provides a method to improve this condition.
2004 model year Scion xA and Scion xB vehicles produced BEFORE the
Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Scion xB JTLKT3#4*40142587

There is a post entitled "Hauling Mountain Bikes Inside an XB". I don't know how to get it over to this thread. It may be of interest to you. I hope you can find it. I remembered it from some time ago. I did a search using the search box in the upper right hand corner, typed in mountain bikes, and it came up. Very interesting. Personally, I wouldn't want to go roof top for bikes. It is way too high for me as far as lifting them up. Actually, one of the bike rack makers has a saying: bikes on back, everything else on top!
