xB ram air hood (updated pictures)
Hi Boxers,
Just thought I would post some updated pics of our xB hood. This is our first actual hood, fits great (on the first try :D ) and gives the xB a very aggressive look! We are getting ready to prime it and send it over to our paint guy to get it painted. I will post more pics after it is painted! If anyone wants to see it in person, I will be at the HIN show in Dallas this weekend! We will also be displaying our new subwoofer enclosure and amp rack.

If it was me, I'd taper the vertical edge of the opening a bit -- sloping forward down to the hood. It looks kind of chopped off to me. I'd be tempted to round the corners a bit more or put a wee bit more arch in the flat surfaces. The xB is a box, but all the surfaces have slight compound curves.
If I knew how to post photos here, I'd put up a Photoshopped version showing what I mean.

Do you have any pics of the underside of the hood? I'm curious as to what the underside looks like. In order for it to be a "functional" ram air hood, it'd have to tie in to the intake system somehow. If there's just an opening in the hood, it's not ram air. But, it does provide another source for incoming air to cool the engine compartment. I put a hood scoop on a Mazda truck I used to own, but reversed the opening so it pointed towards the windshield. Even tho it had a V-6, the airbox was behind the right-side driving light, so the scoop wasn't really serving any purpose on the intake side. Rather, it served as a vent for the heat in the engine compartment. Didn't look too bad. Maybe someone can photoshop the scoop and reverse it?

Sorry for taking abit to get back to you guys! Been sorta crazy around here with work and trying to get our xB ready for the HIN show in Dallas this weekend. I'll do my best to answer some of the questions posted here real quick.
First and as I see it, the most important question...price!! :D Being that we only made one hood to date, I don't have a true cost on this hood, but more than likely the price will be around $449. If there is enough interest, I will offer a discounted price ($399) on a group buy! At this stage, everyone wins with a group buy so PM or email for those who are interested.
At this time, this hood will only be offered in a sandable gray gelcoat finish. I have seen to many painted hoods get damaged during shipping and this is one headache myself or you do not need to put up with. I can get factory colored paint for anyone interested.
Second, I will post more pics of this hood in the next day or two. I'll try to post pics before we leave to the HIN show. If not, I will post more after the show. I'll post pics of both the top and bottom. The pics I posted earlier do not do this hood justice! I'll take some full car shots with it and then some close ups from diff angles.
Currently, we do not have an air box available for this hood. However, we designed the bottom of this hood to allow for many DIY kits. You can cut any shape or size hole underneath for duct work to your air box. We will cut an opening or we can leave that for you to do.
Hope this info helps guys! If you have any other questions, post here. However, if you want a quicker answer, its always better to email me at audioformz@aol.com or feel free to call 888-254-2826.
