Default xB Seat question?

I just test drove an xB today here in VA. I noticed that the front seats are a bit high. The brackets are like two or three inches higher, for appearently no reason. Has anyone lowered their seats/removed the brackets?

Thanks,

Doc

Wow... you must be a really tall person.

I find Xb's seating position perfect to it's proportion...

I am about 6'2, but I have been driving a mustang for the last four years and I like the feel of low bucket seats.

I was just wondering if anyone has lowered the front seats...

Anything can be changed, given a torch. Personally, with several inches over my 6'2" head in the xB I was very happy with the stock configuration! In fact, I was thinking (not very seriously) of raising it for my wife's benefit.

One thing that you will probably have to do if you lower the seats is find a new location for the jack. It will still fit under a lowered seat, but you won't be able to get it out easily!

I know what you mean about feeling high. When i drove the xB after I drove my s2000, i felt like i was driving a school bus, lol

Im going to try to put some aftermarket seats in this weekend so i ll let you know if there is anything that can be done.

And when I go from a VW bus to my xB I feel is if I am driving a Ferrari! I can't even see over the car in front of me!

I went from a 1959 panel bus stock height to a xB and I feel you pain about seeing over. The xB's is a ferrari.

Thanks for the help, I am 99% sure I am getting an xB, I just want it to be the right fit. And after driving the Mustang for so long, I have the need to be sunken low and laid back. It didn't feel like I could do that the way the seats are now. I was thinking about aftermarket seats, but what do you do with the back seats? Wouldn't it look kinda tackey to leave the stack back seats but have aftermarket front seats?

Most people raise the front mounting point with spacers to give better leg support. I love mine now with the spacers.

I didn't think they sat so high, but then I went from a full size truck to the xB....

I love the seating position of the xb, I'm 6'2" and it's perfect for me.

I went from a 1989 Civic, which had LOW seats, but they were more reclined. Not only am I sitting higher in the xB, but I'm way more upright. It's kind of uncomfortable. Maybe I should swap the seats or lower them as the topic originator said.

Heck, the steering wheel is far enough away as it is. Lower the seat and forget about it.
