xB or tC
I know I know I am in the xB area and you guys prob will say get an xB but here is my delima....
20 yr old college student, I work in the IT field... no kids not married... blah blah blah
I ordered a tC from toyota at vendor price since my company is a Toyota Vendor. and i the price is 12kish more like 13 + tax title lic. but after seeing ALOT of xb's in my so cali area i thought heck that would be a sweet car to drive... the prob is that i really want a coupe.. the other think ( no offence ) but they seem ALOT slower then a tC ( yes i know its a box and not ment for speed)
here is the really big kicker - i can get an 04 xB, tinted , floormats for 9,999.99 + tax title a lic.
I looked around the board but here are a few ?'s
1. How is the power in the xB? not hp but how do you feel in it? Auto / Manual
2. reliable / inexpensive mods you have?
3. Dis advantages? / gas / noise also disadvantages over a tC( yea i saw that freeway thread )
4. Advantages /\ /\ /\ ( same kidna thing )
TIA

1. ive got a MT 05 bsp xB: power...is good. i wish i had a little more power (im used to 176hp and above) but its' great. i SCUBA now and i traveled to monterey cA w/ 4 tanks, gear for 2 ppl and my wife and kept 80mph w/30 mi/gal
2. i only got floor mats w/the car, and did led underbody, interior leds, short shifter/cf ****, among a couple beatuy mods. cheap and fun stuff
3. int. noise is sometimes a bit high, higher than the tC (my wife has one/AT) and if you live in a high wind area, then no. some wind gusts will surprise you w/a jerk to the wheel.
4. interior space: fit a queen size inflatable matress, fit wood up to 8 feet long w/the hatch closed, gas mileage (i drive city/hwy and get 30 avg), style, it is unique. mods are relatively cheap. 4lug vs 5 lug usually lighter wheels and cheaper cost. still looks good w/cheaper cost on smaller tires. very neet japanese parts, good jdm market. its my funmobile : )

I drove a tC all tuesday. I own a 05 PW xB and I am 6'5". getting into the tC was ok but getting comfotable was a pain in the rear. my head would rub the headliner even with the seat all the way back and leaned back. my knees were pretty high up next to the steering column. If I came to a stop light I had to look through the sunroof to see if it changed.
I was so disappointed because I like the tC so much and it's a good car. most coupes I have a hard time fitting in anyway. I really missed my xB. glad to be back in it. the old addage is true, "you don't know what you have till it's gone".

It depends on which style you like better. They are two totally different cars. If cost is a major concern, I say get the xB because a difference of $3000 is a lot for a college student. You should really do a standard features comparison though if you plan on adding certain mods because if you add a sunroof and rims/tires to the xB, youve already gone past the $3K mark, then you might as well get a tC which has all of those standard. And the obvious advantage to the tC is the engine. Oh and cruise control is not even an option on xB if you like that feature. Again, if you are a student on a budget, I think xB would be the smarter way to go if you plan on keeping it close to stock.
it is all really up to you, i mean if you need to carry things, transport things, get the xb, if you like to coupe get the TC, the sportier of the 2 is i think the TC, but hey this is your car, be happy, do what you want, they both rock, i wish i had both
WOW! thanx for the info guys... i think im going to re test drive the cars and see what works for me... i wish i could get both but then cost wouldnt be an issue.. thanks alot guys..!

The whole point of the xB is to be different, and break the barrier of the same old car look. I like the TC, but it looks like just another 2 door coupe, and Ive had many of those already. If you want to stand out, get the xB.

In answer to the question, I am very happy with my xB and would gladly make the same purchase again.
The first six months of '04 for the xB, cruise was not an option. Demand for it was so high that for the second half of the '04 run they made it a dealer option, and its still an option for '05. Anyone who bought an '04 xB before it was an option could probably have the kit installed by the dealer now.
I asked the same question when I was new to scionlife and got pretty roundly ridiculed for it.

The graphic's are gone because the thread is too old but it was fairly insulting...

well your talking about burning rubber and drifting in a vehicle with barely 100 whp. There's motorcycles out there with more horsepower.
This vehicle (xB) is for excellent gas mileage and unique looks imo.
According to the polls, a lot of folks would want an automatic xB...
How come? I figured that a manual would be so much fun compared to an automatic. But then again, I'm lazy, so hahaha I'd rather have an automatic hehe.
Although I would want a different car, I would choose something instead of a scion... I myself love drifting (though I dont do it). The Ae86 tureno is still my passion... and no I wasnt inspired because of initial d, was more D1 Drift inspired hehehe
