This Forbes article, and several others concerning Forbes' views of the xB and the Element, were thoroughly discussed in the SL News and Press Releases section when the articles where published back in late 2004 and early 2005.

You could not find them using Search because the News section is purged more frequently than other SL Forum sections.

If I threw up, I would sure hope it'd be in an Element.

I'll say the same thing I thought I said about a year ago.

1. I love the idea of being able to hose down the floor.

2. I like the styling of the element over the xb. Kinda wary of the grayish/black plastic around the quarter panels fading over time...

3. Don't like the price of the element...I think it was/is 6-7$thousand over the xb.

with that said, I love the xb, had it for just over 20k miles, no complaints at all. I would buy another one tomorrow.

The fenders are now painted for 06, but they still insist on a plastic roof

Correction, that's only on the EX-P models, and it's only the roof rails that are plastic. . .

well, i have an element, and i really love it...got the magnesium mettalic color...(very sweet) things 4 wheel drive with heated seats and navi, you really cant compare it with the xB, xB loaded (without 4wd) is still under 20K, elements fully loaded will reach 30K....there in two different classes, i love both, but love my xB more!!!!!!

Default Xb > Plastic Box

How can you even compare the xb to a plastic box . The xb is more spacious, better looking, and best of all its not plastic. o well sucks for those who bought an element before the xb came out.

Go xb as for element owners well they are

I;d have to disagree with you....the honda element is huge on the inside, much more room the an xB BY FAR. With the theater style seating in the back and alot more head, leg, shoulder, and trunk space, hands down the element has more room.. with the interior bike rack i can fit 2 downhill mountain bikes in the back with enough room to close the rear hatch and still fit one person in on of the back seats... lol, you can almost drive an xB right into a Honda element

hmmm... when i was shopping around, i looked at both the xB and the Element, and thought the Element was a lil' crowded, especially when it came to head room.
guess i didn't look at them side by side like you can.
glad i didn't get an element though, waaaay more expensive and gas mileage was another big factor *and this decision was made before the mad gas gouge of 2005*

With the seats removed, the element has quite a bit more space than the xB. My father uses the element for his home medical business. Serves him quite nicely.

That being said, I get almost 10mpg more than he does when both are empty. That affected my decision quite a bit. That, and the 8K+ more...

I cross-shopped these two and decided on the xB based on the price, the fact I didn't like the looks of the Element, and the fact that I don't need AWD. That said, the Element is more solidly constructed and has a smoother, quieter, torqier engine and is the better vehicle in alot of ways. It has a real indepnedent rear suspension instead of stupid torsion beam, the sheet metal isn't paper thin and the plastics and switchgear and general construction exude alot more quality and durability. It's more expensive by far, but you do get what you pay for. The xB meets most of the same requirements though and for alot less money and in a more genuinely hip package that doesn't look like its trying too hard the way the Element does.

If money wasn't an object though, I would have probably have gone with the Element, especially now that the stupid rubbermaid paneling is optional. It looks worlds better without that gray plastic crap.

Correction, rubbermaid panelling is standard. . . it's the paint that is optional. You have to upgrade to the EX model to get 80% of your car painted. Cheap out, and you'll only get 60%.

Give it 4 doors and a full paint job, and it will dealer's won't be able to hold onto 'em.

I'm surprised this isn't mentioned more often. For those of us that appreciate four "real" doors, the xB is the only option. That was another big reason to eliminate the Element.

IMO, the Element and the xB are not comparable....

They both share the same "boxy" look, and that's it!

The E is a SUV!!!, the xB is a sport wagon

The E is based off of the CRV, the xB is based off the Echo- Need I say more?
