Default xB wrecked! Need help.

Hey everyone. Need a little help. I rear ended someone in my xB and she's at Chapman's body shop in Tempe. Pretty significant damage to the front end. The body shop did a teardown and estimated $9300 damage and all bets were on totalled. I started making plans that to that effect but State Farm decided that it is safely repairable and decided not to total.

The list of parts needed replacement include: bumper(& supports), grill, hood, rad(& supports), a/c condenser, headlights, cooling fan, drivers fender and of course paint. Ed at the shop said that the car would go back together nicely. The rest of the car is in good condition. Only had 30k mi on it with Mobil synthetics in engine and tranny. Needed some new rubber but that's about it.

I'm torn on which way to go with the box. I like the car and wanted to do some more mods but don't have the extra money to toss into the pile. Even if I didn't keep this car I would probably buy another in a year after things settle down a bit. I could actually use the cash from the repair to dig myself out from some bills. The rep from the body shop is asking around to see if any body shop guys want the car for around $2500.

So, I'm want to put out some feelers to find out if anyone that has the capabilities and wholesale/salvage parts source might be interested in my xB as a project. Thinking $2500. I'm open to any questions and have a detailed copy of the estimate.

Thanks for any help.

If it were me, I'd take a lesser amount of insurance settlement (just under the max without totalling it) and build a modded out Box the way you want. You already know it's history so why not rebuild it into something special?
You may even come out money ahead.

If your planning on driving it several more years.. then hold onto it; however right now is a buyers market thus with say $8-9K + what ever else you have... you could score something good used (but I recommend NEW if possible.. plus interest rates tend to be lower when you buy new vs. used).

Good luck, I dislike accidents of any kind.
