I already ordered the correct Toyota chrome emblems for the front and back, and I already know how to pull the back scion emblem off (I always de-badge ALL my vehicles).

But I'm still a bit confused on the 2012 front emblem removal even after reading the other threads here.

Can I just heat and carefully pry the front Scion emblem off the backing plate the same way I would remove the back Scion emblem ?

Or, do I have to go behind the grille and remove the entire backing plate ?

Hope my wording of the question made sense.

the front emblem is latch type. always safe to take out the whole emblem and the backing plate

 

It's really simple.

 

Easiest way is to remove the plastic cover on top of the bumper under the hood. from there, you should have easy access to the back of the badge. just undo the clips and push the whole emblem assembly out through the front.
