Default do it yourself black housing headlight conversion

if your like me...which is broke, here are some cool lil things to do to make your xb stand out a bit without spending a ton of money.

1. Black housing headlight JDM look.

Remove front bumper this is very easy takes 10 minutes with power drill. then find all screws holding in headlamps and of course remove them. then the hard part...remove all metal screws you off of each headlamp, your gunna pre heat your oven(yes i said oven)to 250 degrees, then place both headlamps(no you will not mess up your HID's) in on some sort of cake pan type thing, leave em in for 20 minutes. this will melt the glue attatching the lenses so you can pull em apart. once their done take em out and pull apart the lens quickly as possiple your might wanna put on some gloves for this being how you just took em out of the oven oh and it helps to have a buddy assisting you in this. ok, once they are both off you can remove the middle shiny shell peices. get some tape and tape off the spot where your blinker goes(this is a pain in the ___ be careful) then get your black primer or flat black spray paint and paint about 3 coats on each one(i covered up the side reflectors too for a cleaner look). once they are dry place em back in the light housing. then once again turn oven back on to 250 degrees and put em back in for about 10 to 15 minutes take em out then bond em back together with the same existing glue, put all your screws back in, put em back on the car button everything back up and freakin presto! you got yourself some black housing fake JDM looking headlights for about 5 dollars. total time this takes? it honestly took me about 5 hours but i slack off alot, but it should take about 3 hours.

this looks really really good on the super white xb

i did some other stuff that looks cool too that i cant put up right now cuz im going to watch chuck liddel get his aass handed to him by vendelay sivla.

oh and i'll get pictures up soon.

Did you by any change measure the size of the low beam projector? I'm wanting to retro TSX projectors but I wanted to make sure they fit.

Hey Devastator, congrats man and thanks for the step by step, I have a question though, after you paint the lens and bake them again, you mentioned that you bond them back together, what are you bonding back together? Do you only bake one part and then take them out and place it in the housing? Im new to this stuff, can you tell? lol..

haha it's cool man..but to answer your question..yes, after you've painted place the peice back in the lamp and put both parts of the light in the oven before you bond back together..then after a few minutes take em out and bond back together. i hope this is what you meant. oh and sorry for the late response
