Factory Spoiler for Release 6

Factory Spoiler for Release 6
I ordered a spoiler and install kit from Toyota for my release 6 . I was really suprised at how exclusive the dealer says the spoiler is. He may be BSing me, but when I called him he did a nationwide lookup and found only eight Absolutly Red spoilers in th U.S. Oh, and he had to have my VIN or Toyota wouldn't release one to him ! I wonder what percentage of the Release Six owners will be able to buy one? Did they make 2500 cars and only 1500 spoilers? or 1000 ? Does anybody know? Hopefuly the install will be easy. The local dealers all want $175 for the install.. That's not gonna happen !

That is how Toyota works with the RS Parts. They want to keep them exclusive and make a lot of money off of them. That is why only RS owners are allowed to buy RS parts from the dealer and it has to be proven that the owner is buying the part.

Hmmm. When I bought my car it didn't have a spoiler. I added the spoiler as an option and they had it the next day. If it is so exclusive, wouldn't it take longer? Maybe it's because I got it from the dealer. They didn't mention anything like that to me at all.

If you look on my profile there's a picture of my car from the rear. I don't have a close up of the spoiler from the rear, but I can get one later if you want. My spoiler doesn't look like the one on the link posted earlier. Mine is more squared off. I'm not sure if the RS spoilers are any different from the stock spoilers. I'm still new to the xb's and am still looking to improve on mine.

and as a side note, the dealer where I bought the car last week said he thought he could get a spoiler, priced at $464 , and wanted to charge me $80 for the install kit, and $175 for the installation. That's why I shopped it around to places like TRD Sparks. And I'm gonna do it myself. If you let the dealer do it, he's supposed to have the template, and ther is not supposed to be a charge for an install kit.

Your dealer was trying to con you then. When I got mine put on, I paid $423, but that included everything labor and install kit. If you go to the scion website, when you add options to your new car, all that pricing includes labor and all. No one's downing you for shopping around. That's awesome that you can do it yourself. I was just saying that my dealer didn't give me any hassles at all.

jackie254...you probably paid a fair price, and I woulda done that if he's been straight with me. Toyota Motor corp does say installation not included on the accesories. Several other dealers have told me that these red spoilers are extreamly limited. I finaly got mine from a Toyota dealer in MI. I think at one time the main Scion home page stated that the spoiler shown on the release 6.0 was even more limited than the car. So maybe there are only seven left now. Quick..we need twenty more people to order OEM red spoilers to prove my parts guy wrong !

Ebay - I got mine for 110 shipped for the RS 6.0 XB. I just gave them the paint code. As for the install it is just line it up, 2 small drill holes, put bolts in and bam done! It came with step by step instructions. Took me all of 20 mins by myself.

To answer the question of production, they only made 625 spoilers in Absolutly Red. I'm showing 4 left in the toyota stocking warehouses. that doesn't mean other dealers don't already have them. You shouldn't need a VIN to order this part.
Sounds like that peticular dealer is trying to make some good money off of you.
Spoiler PN PT921-52091-03. List $320
install kit PN. PT921-52081 list $25
Installation should be around $100

Thanks Jason, your numbers are more in line with reality. But I still beat you on the wing and the spoiler from another dealer, $259 for the spoiler and $20 for the install kit. It's good to know you've got good prices too tho, I may be calling you for my other stuff.

wow! just installation is $175? Then my dealer is really nice to me, I don't even want to say how much I am paying for it. But I don't have the RS6.0 spoiler they told me that they couldn't order one but got a regular and painted for me. I don't really care it's RS6 or not for the price they gave me.
