Default Hi, kinda of scared! Need Help!

Hello, well my xB will be coming in soon and I just need some advice. I work at the harbor so the car will be exposed to a lot of sun and the salty atmosphere. I heard the paint is pretty thin, so anyone have any tips to help protect my paint and make it last for a long long time? =]

Also, anyone know any good how to wash your car guides? =]

thx all for ur time and cooperation!

Don't buy it from the dealer. It's a rip off.

As far as washing. Make sure you use a decent soap. I love Meguiars. I use...

Meguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo
Meguiars Deep Crystal System Polish
Meguiars Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax (Liquid).
Meguiars Quik Wax for in between washes.

Apart from those products, I use a terry wash mit (doesn't scratch like a sponge), and a boatload of microfiber towels. I would also invest in a decent orbital buffer. I use a Ryobi 6" buffer, makes waxing a lot easier and much quicker.

I like to keep it simple. If I am going to wax, this is what I'll do...

Dawn Dish soap to take off all the old wax and other stuff.
Clean using wash mitt.
Rinse mitt with clean water to get rid of Dawn.
Wash with Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner using cleaned wash mitt.
Dry with Microfiber towel.
Apply Polish by hand using an applicator pad. Do not allow polish to dry, wipe with Microfiber cloth. Apply to whole car.
After polishing apply wax using buffer. If you are in the shade, you can apply the wax to the whole car, if in the sun, do each panel seperately.
After wax is applied, remove using different pad on buffer.
You may want to apply another coat of wax to be safe since you will be in a bad place.

This method worked great for me in Texas. I used it whenever I had my Celica. I bought it used and the paint looked like sh*t. It was black and there were ton's of swirls, scratches and the paint was overall dull. Without having professional tools, this worked awesome.

I just have to say that I have both the simoniz for the paint job and the diamon-fusion for the windshield and I think that they are great. Simoniz is warrented at 5 years and the diamond-fusion is warrentied at 4. If anything stains your interior or sticks to or stains your paint or windshield in that time they will fix it. Also, they will replace your windshield if it is cracked or is chipped within the warrenty period. I also dont even have to use my wipers because the rain flys right off the glass. And the Simoniz is like having a constant wax job. Both these coatings can be bought and are warrented through the dealer.
