hey everyone im having trouble with one of my headlights... i have a hid plug'n'play "KAIXEN" kit hooked up on my lowbeams, well the other day my passenger headlight would come on for a second then turn off.... since then i have purchased another hid kit and im still having the same problem....the ballast and bulbs are perfectly fine.. i tested all of them on the driver side.... so plaese help me before i take to the dealer.....

first of all I dont think or know if dealer can do anything! You are using a modified part here so You might be out of luck getting them to help! I had same problem with mine and thats why I dont use em anymore !!! Kept blowing fuses in fuse box in engine compartment so out they came!

Am waiting on a set of Osram nite breaker 55 watt bulbs similar to Silverstars now! Good Luck on this one!

 

i dont get it though they worked for like 6-7 months then this happened.....

 

Exact same situation happened with me, but mine went out like after a year or so. I just bought new bulbs and that simply fixed the problem.

 

don't hid last longer the stock?

 

yea i got a new ballast and bulb and still nothing ....

 

Are they getting power right through the stock headlight wiring harness, or are you running a separate wiring harness to the battery? (BTW, that's the recommended way) If you're running a separate harness getting power right from the battery, check your ground, and the included relay. I had a similar problem with my mobilhid kit, and I traced it back to the ground wire. The small ring terminal at the end of the ground wire was broken, and was barely attached to the wire. This also led to problems with only one of the headlights. Hope this helps.

 

im running through the stock harness... so its recommended to run them straight to the battery??? well im an idiot when it comes to eletronics i dont wanna eff things up.. is there a thread on how to do this??

 

You'll have to search for HID headlight install info. I'm sure someone did a DIY thread with pics around here.

It is better for the HIDs to get power right from the battery because although they only run 35W as opposed to 55W for halogen low beams, there is an extreme voltage spike at start up. By running power right to the battery, you do not run the risk of damaging your stock headlight wiring harness.

The harnesses that run right to the battery also include a wired relay that plugs into the stock headlight harness. That way, the ballasts only get power when you turn your headlights on.

okay so do i need two of those or is one for both headlights?

 

Usually is 1 relay per pair of ballasts.

 

so basically i should just get the mobile hid kit because it has everything i need......

 

Yes, one harness has everything you need for one pair of HID bulbs.
