Default HID's and xB2 Projector Headlight "flare"

I have a 2011 xB and I have 6000k HID's installed in my stock OEM projectors and I love them but I notice that there's quite a bit of light being shown above the cutoff line (sorry, I don't know the proper term).

I'm pretty sure there isn't really supposed to be any light above the "line" created by projector headlights.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or has the same problem?

^your projectors are not meant for HIDs, that is why you have the flare.

What you are experiencing is glare.
You are using HIDs in a halogen projector.
HIDs are not meant for use in halogen projectors.
Glare is expected.

Oooooh I get it. I didn't know their were projectors for halogen bulbs and HID's.

So basically either go back to halogen bulbs or switch out my projectors?

some halogen projectors are more suited for HID, such as the ones in the 2008 and newer tc's, my cutoff is fine.

you should be able to adjust your cutoff, might help a bit.

there is a screw on the inside of the headlight, that should tell you which direction to turn the screw for up and down. I am not sure as I don't own a Box, rather a tC,
but I know for a fact on the tC projectors the screw is easily visible and accessible from just popping the hood. I would take a flashlight and look and see what you can find for any indication of that adjuster screw.

Gotcha' I just don't want to be accidentally adjusting anything else, it's just the cutoff that's bothering me.

That's not really "glare", there's a slit in the projector's cut-off "apparatus", or whatever it's called, which allows some light to shine above the cut-off line to be able to read overhead road signs and the like. Alot of people refer to it as "squirrel finders" and I've seen alot of people remedy that by covering up the slit with something or retro-fitting true xenon projectors.

you can remove your lights, and through the hole, you will see the "slit" where light is going through, you can bend it down slightly "bending too much might cause it to break" to reduce glare with a pen/pencil, etc etc

google projector squirrel finders and you will see what we are talking about

Honestly, i've had my Xentec 6k's in for a little over a year and I have never had anyone high beam or give me grief about the cut off or emission above the squirrel finder. Unless your headlights are out of adjustment or your HID's are an obnoxious kelvin rating, you should be fine. I like the way the road signs light up now too...

Mines are stock, I didn't adjust anything, I love the way they're set. I just don't want to blind anyone. So far I haven't had anyone flip me off, adjust their mirrors or highbeam me which is good but I'd rather just not be completely inconsiderate and totally ignore the squirrel spotter glare, especially now that I know about it.

Anyway, I did some research and it looks like a simple fix would be to bend down a plate that creates the SS glare...
Anyone ever try this yet?

EDIT: stupid me, this was already said! hah!
Have you guys done it yet thought?

Default hi beam xb2 hid problmo

Just bought some DDM Tuning HID 55w 10k Hi beams for my gf 09 xB2 and they won't work at all, the Lo beams come on just fine.
Just the Hi beams won't work, the kit looks the exact same from the lo beams, nothing looks different.

Any suggestions?
