Default LED reverse light

So I just ordered a new High Power LED Reverse Light from ledmod.com because the stock one is a piece. should be arriving within the week. anyways my real question is is it possible to wire some sort of switch to turn the reverse light on/off without actually being in reverse? two reasons one, i live in a fairly hilly area and when parallel parking i usually don't throw it into reverse, i just coast into place. and number two, its kind of a useful light if you think about it. if you are loading stuff in the back or using for extra lighting in certain situations. any feedback would be appreciated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the LED will not have as much light output (lumens) as the stock bulb; brighter to stare at - yes, more light output - no.

You can read through this whole thread if you like, but I linked to a page that has comparison picks of stock and LED bulbs.

I hope you can cancel your order before they ship it.

I say stick to it, if I still had my cyclops it would definitely have a superbrightwhite LED bulb in it

I've been reverse light-less for over a year now, no parking issues

Yup. those are my pics in the other thread. That 48 LED light was pretty bright as you can see. I really wanted to keep it in but it doesn't throw the light out that far. The pics I have of up show that the brightness is pretty comparable at 6 feet or so, but the LED output doesn't light up the distance nearly as much as the regular bulb. I love the look though, just wish it could have been brighter. There is progress with LED bulbs though. I wonder why they can't just be made bigger...

Say what you want, and talk yourself into believing it, but the fact of the matter is that the LED reverse bulb puts out LESS lumens of visible light than the stock incandescent bulb. I will concede that it looks better at shows when people are staring at it, but it certainly doesn't light up the surrounding area better.

But I'm glad you like it for your goals, that's what matters.

I forgot to mention that I have 5% tint all the way around. I lost the dream of being able to see while backing up along time ago. Either way I'm happy with it.

My next project is to install a 35W H8 bulb into the stock reverse lite housing. Wish me luck!

once you black out ur windows, no matter what kind of bulb u have, with only one reverse light thats soo low to the ground, u aint gonna see nothin!! its a pointless reverse light anyway, might as well jump on the wagon and make it look cool like this guy and swap for led, or pull a von star and shave that bad boy!!! **effen awesome by the way**
