It's both! I remember seeing a BMW on some forum that was a self applied wrap. And there's a few matter black xB2s on here. And don't expect to play less than a glossy paint job. It costs all the same.

Its too high maintenance. If you wash it to hard it gets shinny spots and it scratches really easily. I have it on my roof and its a pain in the ___.

Paint wise it can be either satin or flat depending on the paint you use. I have a client that just did his Trail Blazer SS in satin. You have to remember like Pasquale said it scratches easy and is much like a candy paint job if you scratch it or get damage the whole car has to be painted again cause it cant be matched. Total cost to do a full satin paint job was $12k. I looked into wraps and the local shop told me it was going to be around $3K to do a wrap and if at any point it was damaged they can just pill the section off and redo just that section unlike that paint.

too expensive. never mind

i now it may be a wrap cuz i have seen an aston martin with a flat black wrap (?) and you can see the original yellow paint in the jams and creases. terrible job on that car.

i tought it may look cool on my scion, but not for that price.
