I just got full custody of my cyclo polisher!! Ordered $200 worth of meguiars, cleaners & microfibers from autogeek.net (awesome site for detailing equipment and liquids) CAN NOT WAIT to spend 10hrs on my car, it's time and much needed. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, and Unfortunately it wont be done in time for the dub show this Sunday... LOL
I detail as a side business, i strictly use Adams polishes. i have a whole shelf full of polishes and whatnot. My friends a rep for them (he was just featured in Truckin') but they have an amazing assortment of products that work wonders. I dont touch any car or any paint correction with anything else.
Darren fortunately the paint on our cars are soft so you should get some pretty good results fairly easy. I polished mine a little over a year ago with a flex 3401 and Menzerna polish. Single step gave me about 90-95% and finished down great. Next time you order go with Menzerna polishes, they are fantastic in their ability to cut and finish down damn near perfect with one step.
I'll just add my 2 cents here..
windshield and windows cleaner = water+sopropyl alcohol (we use this on our camera lenses and fiber optics and if you watch MNF (espn) or SNF (NBC) then you can argue with me if it works or not..
I always like to go over it with that then use mothers quick detailer as it adds almost that same wax appeal over the glass and helps remove water spots
Aluminum/Chrome polish = Zephyrs 40 (picked up at most local truck stops or you can order it online)
This stuff has been amazing for me, with a little bit of elbow grease it will bring shine to almost anything and FAST
I dont polish my car at all, I clay it once every 6 months and add a coat of wax.. My XB sits under a cover in a garage for I travel a lot after all its a factory painted car with maybe 3 coats of clear.. you can't expect a mirror deep finish on these cars but you can sure extend the life of it..
I hardly EVER use a brush or mitt on my car.. I must wash it 3-4 times a week when I am home because I am obsessive compulsive but I always go over to the do it yourself wash because I like using the air dry and ionics filtered water to prevent spotting and it costs me 10 bucks
having said that.. I ordered some voodoo for the quick detailer..

Ok so this thread inspired me to get my ___ out and do it myself..
here is my box after a good 3M clay job and hand liquid wax of some stuff that my bro in law gave me.. he manages beverly hills auto body so I am confident it is a quality product after some of the rides he has got down at that place.

Being a veteran of years of car shows I've kinda settled down lately LOL!
I wash once a week (or every other week during the summer down here in S.E. Fla when the heat is opressive). Claybar once a year and have become a huge fan of Collenite 854 wax and sealer (here's another thread I posted on the stuff https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=206110 )
I put a coat of Collenite on right off the showroom floor (I use it on everything; paint, chrome, glass, head & taillights) to immediately protect the paint and now that it's a bit cooler am planning my 1st major detail this coming weekend. This time I'll do the tires, interior and probably do a coat of Zaino Z-2 wax first and then seal it with a coat of Collenite 854 for that 5 foot deep look. I also keep a bottle of their Z-8 Spray to add some pop if I'm going to a car event.
Zaino stuff http://www.zainostore.com/ is undeniably the best for the hardcore show guys (check out the photos) but it's expensive and the Collenite is awesome by itself, goes on easy, holds up better than anything I've ever tried and folks, the S. Fla sun, salt & sand eats polishes for breakfast.
One other note; the Collenite is purely a wax / sealer so if the car has a few blemishes from driving around I use the Zaino Z-A10 first to clean and wax and then the Collenite. This can be substituted for the Z-2 I mentioned above for similar results and then you don't need to have a garage full of expensive polishes like I do.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it

I've gotten new glaze's and product i've been waiting to try out but with my time off and the fact all of a sudden its been raining i havent. I really need to. Ive done others cars but not mine. Heres one after some Adams S&H and FMP along with some Brilliant Glaze covered with Americana wax.

i had only done the fender at that time.

I completely disagree. I'm in the process of detailing my car for the WFC meet on Saturday. In October, I got some over spray from a kid at work repainting fixtures. I did most of the paint over spray removal last month. I had to finish the rest and get her ready for Saturday. Today my buddy gave me some Chemical Guys product, and the new d3000 MF correction kit from Meguiars. Holy hell! I'm waiting for the rest of the Jetseal to cure, and once it's all done OMFGAWD wait till you see the pictures...
