NICE!!!! that's too funny about forgetting it was Columbus day. :p

That Thin layer of adhesive? it does suck, but that stuff is SUPER STICKY!!! and mine has been on the car for about a year now. I don't even notice it anymore...

I guess I have the lingering fear of BMW drivers who stop to look at my box and say, "oh, that's an AFTERMARKET shark fin. Mwa ha ha ha."

Or random people walking by and saying, "Look at that little ricer with his AFTERMARKET fin. I'm going to put a picture of this up on www.rice-and-taters-r-us.net.biz.com (NOT A REAL WEB SITE). It's funny because you can still see the friggin' adhesive!! L O L Z OMG I AM SO COOL. I LOVE YOU BOB SAGET!!".

...But I can definitely live with it. It looks much better than the stock antenna. Oh, and I showed my girlfriend how it looks now and she doesn't like it. She says the stock antenna was better. Ha ha!

A-snell 10-15-2009 05:02 AM

  I guess it does show up a bit more on a lighter color paint. you will get used to it, and no one will notice unless you point it out. I call the xB2's stock antenna " THE DILDO". I hate it.

rrimportracer 10-15-2009 05:04 AM

dude youve got some mad forearms!!! hahaha

A-snell 10-15-2009 05:06 AM

 I had to go back and look for myself. and hairy too. :p

jnaval 10-15-2009 05:37 AM

I wanted to get this but now I'm re-thinking it. I think I've grown attatched to the stock antenna. :P

You mean "the dildo"?

the fin looks super sleak. especially if you have a rear spoiler.

jnaval 10-15-2009 05:45 AM

Yes, "the dildo"! lmao! It does look good with the spoiler though, cool points on that. :P

A-snell 10-15-2009 06:04 AM

YESSS!!! I GET COOL POINTS. I need all those I can get.

Snkysnake, Did you get it installed yet? Any pictures of it on your RS6?

If you're after the stock look on a xB and want to keep it simple, leave the antenna as is. If you're one of the many owners who want to add towards the aggressive look, the Shark Fin Antenna is a great way to go.

The only cons that you really have is the thin layer of adhesive (and it's thin, provided you put down enough muscle to seal it to the roof of your box) and a slight degradation in signal quality. Honestly, I don't really listen to my radio, so the Shark Fin for me serves more of an aesthetic purpose than functionality.

I am no longer skeptical of the Shark Fin for now I strongly endorse it. :thumb's up smilie:

It really does look good, real aggressive, as you said. But how bad does the loss of signal get? There are moments when I get tired of my music ( I know) and I just switch to the radio.

pyroman131 10-15-2009 06:30 PM

Signal loss really isn't THAT bad. Basically I get pretty good radio signal around here, but the OEM antenna is much better in signal quality than the shark fin. There's just a little bit of static.

snkysnake 10-16-2009 12:39 PM

I installed mine on Wednesday , amd I love it. I haven't noticed any loss of signal. I mainly listen to XM , but my one fav FM stations (60 miles away) and an am station I listen to occasionaly (12 miles away and 5000 watts) both come in just as good as before. I'll try to get pics today, now that it's stopped raining !

Good! It's about time we see it on an Absolute Red box.

I've got a Show tomorrow, so this is a little free advertising for the Band.

I love my Shark Fin on my xD. I have had it for awhile now and get lots of compliments.

Now that I bought the wife a RS7.0 xB2, I will be adding one of these in the near future.

Thx man...That was an older picture too...I have to get someone to do a photoshoot with a real camera some day...

RC-PILOT 01-31-2010 02:33 PM

I didn't do all the tape stuff, I found that as you put it down, if you let it rub against the back of the antenna base, it lines it's self up. Ended up spot on. So far I have not noticed any issues with the smaller antenna. Reception is good. I have had it on for about 2 weeks now.

dun4sho 02-01-2010 01:31 AM

Same seamless vent visors, buy from whoever sells them cheaper (including the shipping).

If she throws a fit, just remind her of all the shoes, purses, jewelry, and fragrances that she has. Then remind her how much you spent on her.

If she's a wise girl, she'll quiet up.

If she is like my girl, she'll raise that index fair into the air and snap back with the "Oh don't even...!".

Chances are no one on SL has the kind of girl in example 1.

Charock 02-16-2010 10:34 PM

Ok I ordered mine but is the static that bad? reading all the reviews about the reception not being as good, wonder if I made the right choice. Granted my radio reception wasn't the hotest to begin with I don't know if I want it to be worse..... :icon_dj:

Charock 02-16-2010 10:36 PM

@Pyroman - Yeh dude I will remind her who pays for the mortgage, two car notes, cable, internet and 4 cell phones. I don't think she'll have much to say after that, oh yeh don't forget the insurance, lol!

Ha. There's just one problem: she's a chick. She'll still find some way to hold it against you. lol

Your reception will be fine. It works out great for me, so I don't know. I guess it depends on radio signals in the first place.

mine has been on for a year now, and I have YET to have a reception problem. :) maybe WAY OUT in the boonies you loose reception a little faster than with the "dildo" *that's what I call the stock stick* :rolling::rolling:

ZombiePunk 02-17-2010 07:05 PM

I just ordered mine... I can't wait!!

I had one on my previous car and never once had a problem with radio reception or the antenna coming loose. It was on my car for over 4 years!

A-snell 11-27-2010 04:30 AM

still lovin the fin. not a single problem...

So, Compliments have become an issue?? AWESOME!!!!!!!

LtBradleykins 11-27-2010 04:02 PM

I've had mine on as well for about a year! I really like the way that the antenna and spoiler look together, very complimentary in my opinion... and yes reception is still great!

I was gonna go with the Shark Fin but in my opinion, it doesn't go with the lines of this Box, therefore I went with the 3" antenna from Streetune, and I get great reception.

MR_LUV 04-06-2019 09:56 PM

:)

CiRiS 06-13-2020 03:17 PM

Thanks for the nice easy mod! I went with a short extendable antenna. This one looks good and I get good reception.

I think stock is a little better, but its not a deal breaker by any means.
